The Christmas Spirit: Grimm Tales Collector's Edition

Big Fish once again has put out a beautifully illustrated hog Christmas game. Lots of gorgeous scenes, nice Christmas soundtrack and good story. I've put up a few screen-caps to showcase the beauty of the scenes. The game does include a map, the ability to pick your difficulty per mini game, the ability to turn on map "to do" location hints and the ability to turn on collectable location hints. The base game ran me about 2 hours but I've yet to complete the bonus chapter yet. The only thing missing from this game is Steam achievements and trading cards. Achievements are available in game just not as Steam achievements sadly. This game also supports wide screen.

Did you watch the show Once upon a time? If you do then you probably will enjoy this game. It's family friendly so you can play with your kids. I like playing these Xmas themed games during the Winter Holiday season. There are some different objects you will get to find, hidden object scenes that also give the option to play a match 3 game instead. Pretty Graphics full of holiday cheer. Puzzles aren't to crazy but a few took a bit longer then I thought it would. You get a travel map, able to customize the game to how you want to play, even the map has choices you can choose to have or not have. You have a room you can decorate but be sure to look for those delicious cookies if you want to do that. What I didn't expect was to see two characters, the arch nemisisissss...actually are Regina and Mr. ...

So this is Christmas? I really enjoy a HOPA now and again for a short puzzle experience in between other games. Figured I'd play this Christmas one it being in the season and all. Have to say that my expectations for these kinds of games are not exactly high, but clearly some are better than expected and some are worse. Unfortunately this falls in the latter category. The graphics are nice, the atmosphere is ok enough, but the story is terrible. So is the voice acting for the most part. The story is totally senseless and even cringeworthy at times. I'd rather kiss a reindeer's behind than having to go through that again. Not to mention the puzzles. It's way too easy and nothing original except for maybe a couple of the HO's. One can clearly see that this whole mess was abruptly put together to get it ready for the season and was given barely or any thought other than to get it out on time. A well voice-acted, pretty art, and decent puzzles! The story is . . heavily festooned in Christmas decorations, and kind of cheesey. But pretty fun fluff and fairytale references.

I mean it's the Grimm Tales spin on a Christmas HOG, of course it's amazing. This is the best of the best, beautiful atmosphere, good voice acting, great puzzles, no bugs or typos.. you just won't find anything better. It's worth buying full price it is THAT good. The artwork in this particular game is great for screenshots too!!

Great fun and very festive HOG!

Very nice game, pretty pictures & fun storyline. - It's a bit too quiet though - there are long periods of play without any music, and especially with a Christmas game, music is important for setting the festive mood. - Some solutions are not very logical BUT I appreciate that more than things that are super obvious, so even though there are some silly things, at least this game is original and makes you think a bit. - Also has a good variety of puzzles from super-easy to some head-scratchers. I love adventure games like these - a wide variety of puzzles and extras as well. the graphics are beautiful in games like these too. Fun!
