Not your typical MCF game to me. Granted ive skipped a few but I actually enjoy the idea of finding items with the occasional puzzle. this is complete opposite. Puzzle after puzzle that are extremely easy with the rare occasion of a screen where you have to find about 12 items. if this is what MCF has moved to, it will be my last one. Granted ive only got 5 hours into it so maybe it improves.

Mystery Case Files: Black Crown is the newest game of the series to hit Steam, and once more you step into the shoes of the Master Detective. This time, you are called to an isolated asylum to unravel the mystery of a mute girl and the obsession she has with the so called Black Crown. Of course, as soon as you arrive, you find yourself embroiled in more supernatural shennanigans. Plot/Story: As with a lot of the newer Mystery Case Files games, the story is definitely serviceable, but nothing really outstanding. This is a shame because I appreciate the fact that it wasn't tied into the Delimar/Ravenhearst storylines. For the curious, it actually has ties to
Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull
Unfortunately, the game doesn't really explore these connections than other on a superficial level. For one thing, the ending of
13 Skulls
was rather...final...so in a sense this game causes yet another retcon to the series as a whole. Mind you, this is o...
This game did 13th skull dirty
let me start out this review by saying that i managed to beat both the main story and the bonus chapter in 3.4 hours, this is perhaps the most shortest time i have ever gotten in a mystery case file game. this game lacks hardness, the puzzles are way to easy and the hidden object scenes are also easy. now the reason for my title is: the game conspires around the past events of the 13th skull game. a lot of the elements that made the 13th skull game so good were simple lost within this game, what even annoyed me was the bonus chapter, if you were a fan of the original game then don't play the bonus chapter, you will become so mad if you do. now for pros/cons pros

the characters are once again strange and quirky
new locations
Cute Doggo
Cons

lack of story
bad dialogue
horrible animation (return to the live actors again!)
Bonus chapter was just horrible [/list...
Decent HOG. 7/10. The story was pretty silly, but the game play was good. I Pros: played Artifax Mundi games for a while, and they would use the same mini-games over and over. By contrast, this one had unusual mini-games. If it had been two hours longer, I'd give it an 8/10. I like a bit of backtracking and running around, but sometimes there is too much backtracking. This one did not feel like too much backtracking to me. Con: The hidden object scenes were mostly pretty basic, although they would throw in something a little unusual at times.
I don't know. The graphics do not have the old MCD feels. I like the older ones better. This didn't seem as dark but still good though.
Story was good with a connection to the 13th Skull game which I liked. It was pretty puzzle heavy, with a good deal of the puzzles being a bit tedious or slidy which I'm not a big fan of. At around chapter 3 the game felt more boring than the beginning but I'm thinking that might just be from all the constant area jumping I felt I was doing with all the puzzles. Overall, it is still a good HOG with some well-done graphics and cutscene quality for the time. Also asylum doctor looks sorta like Travis McElroy.
Black crown is a direct sequel of 13th skull. It ties the plot in a neat way and anwsers some questions. If you enjoyed the prequel give it a go, otherwise you can skip this entry.
This was a great game.
excellent
13th Skull was my all time favourite MCF game. It was atmospheric, theme was very well implemented. Puzzles were difficult and made sense. I also loved the live action acting so I was very excited when I opened the game and see our cursed pirate was back ... Alas this game is just a huge disappointment. Setting is in the UK instead of Southern US for some reason and music is your generic HOP. Nothing feels Voodoo-y or piratey. Puzzles are ridiculously easy and there is no logic behind them. Honestly, ever since the Shadow Lake instalment whole MCF franchise went south went it comes to dialogue and story. All in all I don't recommend this game at all. Play the earlier instalments or another franchise because MCF just doesn't worth it anymore.
