About This Game

vapormaze is a roguelite first-person shooter in a vaporwave maze.
You are trapped in a maze of lies. To escape, you must find the truth. Shoot robots, jump spikes, buy guns, get upgrades, throw bombs and explode the system. Can you escape?

The game takes you through mazes filled with dangerous robots and obstacles. In each maze level, Helios will share his knowledge and ideas. Maybe you can reflect about them and find a meaning while wandering the corridors. Maybe not.

Death is permanent, but some progression is saved between runs.

Average session is between 20 minutes and 1 hour.

Features:

Physics:

Most objects are physically simulated. Your bullets have weight and can ricochet around. Getting punched by a heavy enemy will push you away, jumping into a wall will bounce you back. Enemies can also be punched out of your way.

Roguelite:

If you die, you lose your weapon, items and go back to the first maze. However, diamonds are forever, the upgrades bought at the diamond shop are permanent.

Seven Procedurally Generated Mazes:

As you get deeper and deeper on the Vapormaze, the mazes become harder and more complex. New mazes are generated every playthrough.

Weapons:

A bunch of different weapons to suit different playstyles.

Punch Gun:

Your own personal PunchGun™ that punches almost anything and allows you to throw stuff and enemies out of the way.

Bad Robots:

Face bad robots that will try to kill you. Different bot types behave differently and try to attack you in different ways.

Vending Machines:

You'll find them around the maze. Buy the items you need to survive like ammo, health kits, new weapons and skill upgrades.

Upgrades:

You can buy a plethora of different upgrades to increase your powers. All upgrades work simultaneously and stack with each other. e.g. if you got Multiply Bombs and Bomb Bullets, you're gonna throw multiple bombs and each of them will explode into bullets.

Awesome Soundtrack:

Some of the finest vaporwave music, crafted by Windows96.

Helios Himself:

Not really, it is just a statue. He says interesting things though.

Got this on sale, and I have to start with its cool to see a different genre for Vaporwave games. 𝒫𝑜𝓈𝓉𝒾𝓋𝑒𝓈 +Music is everything I was hoping it was, real easy to vibe into. +𝔸𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕤 are outstanding and colorful, got a alot of good references around the mazes too +Maze Changes every playthrough making for fun replay value +I shouldn't even need to mention this but fun For the most part this game pretty tight, But... 𝓝𝓮𝓰𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓼 -No Multiplayer (this would be really sick to play with 2-4 people) -Despite the Random Map Generations Its not enough change to how it plays -Could use some different styles to each floor to keep it interesting Overall not bad but before I rate this may I suggest: A Map Creator The Ability to add your own media (mp3,ect) as a music choice More Weapons and add achievements and emotes 7.8/10 👌

boy this is just exactly the sort of thing i needed today. simultaneously chill as hell and hard as balls, beautiful with a killer soundtrack, and fun movement and physics mechanics. i can see how some folks who aren't in the venn diagram of fans of vaporwave, roguelites, and goofy physics games might not get it, but it's genuinely a super creative and entertaining game. i've gotten stuck once and had mobs clip into the walls so it does feel like this needed more time in early access, but considering how i've spent the past week looking for a new roguelite fps to chill out to, but i somehow couldn't find this game until i saw it in the new releases, i can't really fault the dev for releasing early when valve does such a bad job letting me find things but anyway i hope this review made sense, i think this game did something to my brain. buy this if you like it when games do things to your brain!

This game is awesome. It's like if super hot and the binding of Isaac had a child while listening to machintosh plus. My only complaint is that I didn't play this game sooner. 10/10 would buy again!

I almost A E S T H E T I C A L L Y broke my keyboard because of the mad jumps. Nevertheless, the game looks and sounds wonderful, especially if you are into these aesthetics/cores.

somehow of all roguelites i own i keep returning to this one the visual and audio aesthetic is on point the game can seem frustrating at first because of floaty movement and visual clutter that makes it hard to see the enemies, but once you get used to it it becomes a very very fun game, throwing enemies around with the spring gun is peak if you are a vaporwave and ziggurat/heavy bullets enjoyer its definitely a must buy

Love the look of the game, and the items are fun to use. If I were to change some things, I would definitely slow the movement a bit and find a way to make jumping easier to control. It makes the platforming segments a complete nightmare to play. Oh yeah, one more thing. Another good quality of life suggestion: Not sure if this would work, but maybe add a reduced clutter setting for weaker PCs? I'm on a $300 laptop so I get 20 fps lol. I can manage with that but it would be handy

Do you love the OG FPS roguelite HEAVY BULLETS? Do you love the dulcet tones of WINDOWS96? I do! So I had to pick it up! TLDR is that I recommend it if you like the aesthetic, and are ok with a work in progress. Otherwise you might find this frustrating. There are definitely bugs and control issues. But there is also an undeniable quality and craft present as well. I think the good out weights the bad, and the bad will probably get fixed -STRAY THOUGHTS (can't really say PROS or CONS just yet) -The soundtrack is stellar, WINDOWS96 is best of the best. 11/10 -Looks really nice -The physics based movement is interesting, but it needs some tuning IMO. Jumping is really hard to control, making platforming a real pain. Jumping is Easily the biggest con for me right now -The punch gun is a great example of the physics working well, its a fun weapon when you get used to it. -Bugs... yeah some bugs. I got stuck in the tube/elevator after I bought a bunch of stuff at the start of a ru...
