About This Game

Hogvalord is a combination of action RPG and farming simulation game that takes place in a fantasy medieval world. You play as Lucas, a retired royal servant whose dream is to start a hog farm business in his homeland. But heavy labour isn't the only obstacle that blocks your way to the dreamy future. With many monsters plus an unidentified fishy force that always eager to have both you and your hog's meat in their stomach, what can you do to survive in a harsh world without superpower or magical skill? Give up? Figh back? Run away? The answer is waiting for you in Hogvalord.

KEY FEATURES

  • Story-oriented gameplay: farming is not just for a living, farming is a part of the story. Figure out what has been threatening the peace of your homeland as the story progresses. Beware of choices, it can lead to a dreadful ending.

  • Gathering: wander dangerous forests, collect resouces to build your farm.

  • Design your own farm: build your farm however you like, be it a maze, a home or simply a dump. Just a small reminder, your farm is also your warzone 😄

  • Raise your hogs manually: provide them food, water or... weird potion. If they're happy, they can give birth to little piggy once in a lifetime.

  • Hog evolution: "piggy is what piggy eats", the food affect the hog's shape. Raise different type of hogs and evolve them into different mythical creatures. Yes, mythical creatures, maybe they aren't that useless after all.

  • Combat: fight and defend the farm like a real medieval peasant. No magic, no superpower, time to work out some muscles and brain cells 😉

  • Growing crops: grow you own organic veggies to feed the hogs. No need to wait for the morning market anymore.

  • Visual: top-down cute 3D graphics plus 2D beautiful hand painted character portraits & illustrations.

The controls area little laggy, but once the dev has that down to pat, i reckon it will be a fairly good game. For the price i would recommend it. It slants towards using a controller, so bear that in mind. But cute art style, good concept, look forward to seeing how it progresses

You cant even do the first thing the game ask of you, (get a sword). This is the first thing you have to do in the game, and you cant even do that. And this locks you out from progressing. The movement is sort of floty as well. How do you F up the first 6 seconds of gameplay? Dont bother with this game, the dev/devs clearly dont know anything.

Very cute game. Nice graphics and music. The game looks easy to play, but the mission is more challenging for me, especially killing evil flowers. The idea of a flying pig is fun and I like it.

This game has a lot of problems. The largest ones are that food and water meters on the pigs go down way too fast and sometimes they just refuse to eat or drink. Its way too frustrating. It also seems like the dev has abandoned the game since there have been no updates. It just feels like an abandoned game that never got finished.

Not fun enough. Good idea, bad execution. It's too easy for your hogs to die. You have to spend time after time just looking at them, hoping you'll be able to keep them alive. This will prevent you of exploring the world and building stuff.

Ngl, I like the idea that this proposes but the execution falls flat. I love the idea of raising animals with different factors contributing to what they grow into, like in Digimon World 1, but the game reeks of amateur developers Quick summary of pros and cons + Cool premise + Music is good enough that you won't find it annoying - No loading screens which means you get to see everything pop-in in real time, including monsters that are right front of you - The main game loop is too fast. One moment you're cleaning your pigs' poop, then monsters attack, and then your pigs need food, and before you can even go get food from the store, your pigs poop again and then the monsters come, rinse repeat. I couldn't find any time to even rest in the tent or go out to get food - Invisible walls and not being able to tell what terrain you can walk on - Before you can even get into the hell-loop that is running a pig farm, you have to complete a sluggish 1 hour marathon of quests and tutorials ...

Unfinished, janky - and by now abandonware. Last update was June 2022 - and it unironically acts as if "there's gifts npcs like and gifts they don't like" as well as "raising the relationship will unlock heart events" (so literally baby's first farming game mechanics) were somehow "highlights". Don't waste your money.

Can't get past the tutorial because the game can't count the number of fences you put down. I wish I had just gone ahead and refunded instead of waiting to see if the dev would fix the issue. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2782803457
