It's broken. * The mouse cursor goes invisible at random times, good luck navigating any menus. * There's very little in the way of settings, not even fullscreen / windowed. * The title screen looks like it was thrown together out of random Unity assets. * One video in particular has the slogan "Hot Tacos" painted over the top digitally with "Combat" for no discernible reason and it looks terrible. * Worst of all, there's an unkillable enemy in the first act. Texas Feed something or other, woman with a red shirt and cowboy hat, bottom right corner of the scene. No matter how many times you click her, she doesn't die. There are multiple enemies that seem to have problems with collision boxes, but this one is just borked.

I'd already seen the work and vast improvements in picture quality with Screaming Villain's re-releases of Night Trap and Double Switch, so I was itching to get my hands on Ground Zero Texas! As a fan of this on SegaCD back in the 90's, it is super fun to re-visit this again and see this game in all its glory, as it was probably intended (and not 64 colours at 12fps). The video and audio is as good as it's ever going to get, and it feels like the original game thanks to the painstaking programming by Tyler and Screaming Villains. Being able to unlock each scene in the game in a video library in the Bonus Content gives this "replayability", making me want to go back and play again to catch the scenes I missed the first time round. It's also fantastic to see footage of the crew in the unlockable behind-the-scenes clips (crew safety briefings from July 93, explaining the explosives and stunts. As well as seeing DiSalvo, Reece and Mathews casually sat around reading newspapers!). There's ...
The Best B-Movie you ever played.
This game is broken. For me it runs fine, sure, but watch that ESC button as it'll just quit your game, no menu. Bigger issue, though, is the major game-breaking bug of the hit-boxes being woefully inaccurate near the edges of the screen, as in you can have the crosshair smack dab in the middle of the box, fire away for hours, and not register as hitting your target.....at all! This has been reported and reported and reported in the discussion tab of the game page, and no reply from the devs at all. Many people have supposedly praised the devs for awesome remasters of other old school FMV titles, but at this point, this feels like a rip-off since they have done NOTHING to patch this game since release. IF they ever do patch and fix this and any other bugs, then maybe I'll change my review. Until then......this game is broken. DO NOT BUY.
Great FMV game, horrible release. The game is broken and prone to crash and include several game breaking bugs that make it impossible to complete without starting a new game and praying it won't happen a second time. For the absurd asking price just watch a youtube play through and move your mouse around and you can say you beat it
If you're a fan of B-movies, well, this is a B-game in all its glory. Cheesy premise, cheesy acting, and whilst gameplay does get very repetitive toward the end, this game was originally released in 1993 and was a big technical achievement for its time, as well as a large-scale FMV production. I always have a spot soft for these kinds of games, as well as the SEGA CD in general, Objectively not a great game, especially by today's standards, but it's a unique project that has a lot of personality to it. Really depends what you're looking for, but I love the early 90's kitsch.
I really wanted to like this game but unfortunately the release is incredibly broken. Hitboxes do not work which can sometimes halt progress, random mouse disappearing, sometimes footage plays at the wrong speed leading to slow enemies or tinny audio. Until this game is patched avoid it
dont buy,, wont load,, wont launch,, requested refund ;( i love fmv and this is right up my ally breaks my heart
thanks
Loved this game back in the day, I still own it on Mega CD! It was hard as nails and frustrating to play because of the constant switching between video feeds. There is a specific way to play it and with not much in the way of wriggle room to view things your own way. There are different video feeds you would not normally see through different play throughs, for example if you don't save the girl in one scene she get's taken down to the alien chambers. When viewing the video of rescuing her - you get to see a scene with some workers, one of them being Danny Trejo!! "we don't need no sticking badges!" XD Anyways, I saw this had been released on steam and wanted to experience the game again, and view the clips as you play through the game they get saved in a bonus gallery. Unfortunately the game wouldn't start for me, black screen with music playing, had to escape back to desktop a few times to get into the game. Eventually got into the game, the video sequences seemed to pop up a lo...
