About This Game

DISCOVER THE STORY

Your path will lead you to the Worldwound, where the opening of a rift to the Abyss has unleashed all-consuming terror across the land. For over a century, the neighboring nations have fought fearlessly, trying to drive the enemy back — but to little avail.

Now, you have the chance to put an end to this conflict, but the path to salvation is far from clear-cut. Will you become a shining angel, backed by noble paladins? Or a powerful necromancer with hordes of immortal undead in your thrall? Or something else entirely? Lead your army and challenge mighty demon lords. Your crusade will set in motion a chain of events that will leave you — and the world itself — forever changed.

PLAY YOUR HERO, YOUR WAY

Create any character imaginable with the flexibility, richness, and depth of the Pathfinder First Edition ruleset. Choose from 25 classes, 12 character races, and more than a thousand spells, feats, and abilities to suit your personal playstyle.

FOR EVERY CHOICE, A CONSEQUENCE

Your decisions have more weight than ever before. Your goal is clear, but you must forge your own path to it. Who will die, and who will live? Who will stay, and who will go? Make your choices, and watch the world around you change.

A NEW WAY TO FIGHT

Enjoy two combat modes as you slay your enemies – real-time with pause or turn-based. Switch between them on the fly, so you can always take things as slowly — or as quickly — as you like. The unique Pathfinder ruleset also allows you to perform advanced combat maneuvers, like mounted combat. Use them wisely!

GATHER YOUR PARTY

A cast of more than 10 unique companions is ready to join your cause. Earn their trust and respect, and they will have your back no matter what dangers lie ahead. And if you get on their bad side, well… Maybe it’s time to part ways.

LEAD THE CRUSADE

You will need much more than a party of adventurers to cleanse the land of its demonic scourge. Take command of the crusaders and lead them to victory – both as a strategist, controlling the battle from above, and as a field commander, in a new tactical combat mode.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

Explore nine unique Mythic Paths: obtain extraordinary abilities and shape everything that comes next. Your decisions might transform you into a celestial Angel, a raging Demon, a powerful Lich, a cunning Trickster, an otherworldly Aeon, a rebellious Azata, a wise Gold Dragon, an insatiable Swarm That Walks — or remain mortal and walk the arduous fantasy path toward becoming a living Legend.

If this game were a DM I wouldn't come back to the table for a session 2. From a tabletop to video game conversion it's horribly unbalanced and mechanically boring unless you're a min/max type.

Well, after 354 I can say that I love this game, it has some rough parts I detest but as a whole I give the experience my high praise! Things I hated: - Random encounters, there are so many of them. - Crusade battles, I genuinely turned auto-mode because I hated those. - Getting dismounted because of cutscenes and wasting a turn on mounting. - My companions missing 99% of their attacks all the time with their default builds. Things I liked: - Mythic paths - story and characters - the insane amount of classes and subclasses! - The insane replayability value of the game.

Epic story, amazing build variety, great replayability. Downsides: long game, can be a brutal learning curve for those not used to pathfinder mechanics and difficulty scaling

As a Lich I betrayed a good chunk of my allies and forcibly raised them to serve me. As a Azata I knighted a trio of Mimics.

I will be finishing this since I sunk so many hours into this already (and quite frankly I AM interested in where the story goes, alongside the smaller character stories), but MY GOD- cannot recommend simply because this feels too much like a min-maxxer's paradise - and I don't actually know whether that is because of the tabletop system it is based off of, or because of the game itself, maybe a bit of both. > Encounters sometimes feel a bit like 'DM vs the players' scenario and instead of them being placed thoughtfully, it more often than not feels like it was placed there to kick the player in the balls > Unique Game-Mechanics are usually introduced not as a way to reward or add flavour in the end for the player, but to annoy you instead in that ever-present quest of making the game ''challenging'' (Abyssal Corruption is prime example here) > The game DOES encourage variety in your playstyle. Quite adamantly. Problem here is that because of the tons of choises you can make to make ...

A good try replicating the old infinity engine games ( icewind dale, baldurs gate etc) but the execution is mediocre as best. If there was a scale out of 10 i would give this max 6. The positives : Character creation : *There are a lot of classes and races to choose from also enough feats to make different characters. *Replayability options : There are many paths to choose from as the game evolves, which might be tempting to start from the beginning The mehs : *Music is trying to be epic but far from it, its not bad but could have been better *The towns are boring, townfolk has nothing interesting to offer , everything is straightforward *Crusade management is a good idea, but not very fun, sometimes it feels like its a burden *There are many companions to join but most of them are dull , and they have either weird subclasses or poor character development The negatives : *Some wilderness areas are just there to increase playtime, no meaningful quests, nothin...

For Steam deck: Limit fps to 40 Medium quality Turn off shadows The text is just as small as other games that are rated good on the deck. I've been rotting in bed playing this.

I love the story and so i have fought HARD to play through the painful unbalanced slog that is the game. I love CRPG's, and I have never had to fight so hard to just enjoy a game. you get all of these mythic powers and to "balance it" they throw impossibly powerful specialized enemies at you that you have no way or hope of beating unless you planned and prepared for that specific scenario. Ive given up deep into Act 4 because all of the enemies just magically stun lock you with no way of salvaging. sure, i could have optimized better or prepared better or whatever the hell, but in order to play through the game you have to micromanage so much and be so detailed that its not even fun. The writing is great, but fuck if this isnt the worst crpg gameplay wise.

I just finished today (Angel path), Best cRPG I have ever played. I have owned the game and it's DLCs for years but only really sat down and played it because of Rogue Trader (which I finished and loved). Story is good, many companions are cool. I use BG2 as the standard for measuring all cRPGs. Pathfinder: WOTR surpasses BG2. I loved the game and couldn't stop playing once I got into it.

Every time... Owlcat tricks me every time with these games. Ok, so WotR is better than Kingmaker, by a good deal. Still, bugs and slog. The first two acts are very good, and little to no bugs. Then act 3 comes around and things slow to a crawl with a deluge of the most inane, confusing, and bad quests that are all dumped on you. Your reward for surviving act 3 is a breezy act 4 but at that point I didn't really care anymore and bounced. I know I like Warhammer 40k more than Pathfinder, but I'm soo burned by these past two games that I can't bring myself to buy Rogue Trader.
