About This Game

Find love, fame, and fortune in New York with an intriguing cast of flappers and federal agents! Temptation is everywhere in this steamy 1920s romance!

It’s 1926 and there’s no place on Earth like New York City. You left the small town you grew up in to seek fame, fortune, and romance on Broadway, but success and true love have both proven more elusive than you imagined. You never dreamed you’d be torn between helping one lover save their business, an illegal speakeasy, while another lover tries to destroy it!

Jazz Age is a 125,000-word interactive novel by Nicola R. White, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Play a leading Prohibition! But will your heart find its match with a worldly club owner or the street-smart federal agent who wants to shut it down? Along the road to love, you’ll also have the chance to become a star, fight for workers’ rights, and save your family home. Who can you trust in a world of guns and glamour?

  • Play as male, female, or non-binary; gay, straight, bi, or poly.
  • Attend auditions for a role on Broadway or pursue a career in a speakeasy.
  • Outwit the FBI—or join forces to enforce Prohibition laws.
  • Help out your family back home—or sever all ties to your old life as you rise to the top
  • Find love with a gruff federal agent or a street-smart nightclub owner.
  • Meet historic figures and explore the streets of 1920s New York.
  • Befriend a flapper, a dandy, or a socialite.
  • Will you choose love or stardom in 1920s New York?

I've played a number of CYOA games and this one was not it. It's short, clunky, and it doesn't feel like a well written story. It feels like a decent first draft/outline, but it's lacking in many aspects. I feel bad being so harsh but after playing other games where I enjoyed the stats, writing, and/or romance, this one didn't check any of the three. Try it out if this is THE genre you're interested in, but if this is just a passing curiosity then I recommend you keep on looking. Stats: Didn't feel relevant to the game. I'm sure they are, and this is honestly the least of my concern since I personally would rather not worry about my stats being high enough to beat a stat check. The problem was, it didn't feel like any of them were really reflected throughout my play through. Writing: The plot was too fast paced for my liking. So many things happened at once and it didn't feel like it was intentional. It feels like something rushed that someone would later on be like 'huh? oh yeah! ...

I was stoked when I read the story of the game since I love history, however I did find it personally very uncomfertable that it contains very detailed described sexual scenes of which there is not a single warning of on the store page. One of the choices you make is literally about a sexual action and it was very distastefull to read, it felt like I was reading one of those smutty novels which housewives buy at the grocery store. This game is not for me sorry. Big bummer since I liked the historical theme. I really would have liked a heads up at least, I don't mind brief mention of sexual themes but this was honestly very distasteful to read and felt like I was reading a badly written fanfic.

So, this has five characters. Two of the characters are great! (Toni & Vilma). Then three are terrible! There's the creep theater director, the cop who breaks into your apartment to sexually harass you, and the landlord. The stalker cop (ACAB) and the landlord are the are the only ROs! And you don't even have an option in most cases to be like "Nah I hate them I'm gonna just stay single and keep away from them," and in fact you have zero choice about ending up with at least one of those pieces of shit. For the character of John, his behavior is so egregiously awful that the game really ought to come with a trigger warning for victims of stalking and sexual harassment.

I personally really enjoyed Jazz Age! Although it may be a bit shorter than other games like it, I found the story very compelling and I loved the characters! Toni was great but John was my favourite!! I definitely can't wait to play it again and again!

I love history and Choices of Games so of course I was going to play this game. Its a text only game but it's so well written that in my opinion you don't need visuals. there are only 2 love interests though 1 boy and 1 girl both are excellent characters and the romances are great fun. you can become the leading role in a new show, support actors rights to unionise, play your love interests against each other and even help save a speakeasy its great fun and your MC in the tradition of Choices of Games there are plenty of options to design a unique MC. I love this game I would say that it's quite a short game, it has no audio, and is text only if that's not your thing { I listen to jazz whilst playing it sometimes )

The ending was incredibly abrupt. It felt like the story was just getting started when the curtains closed. I'd understand if this was part 1 and part 2-5 came out later. But as it is, I'm disappointed. The characters were well-written. They felt like different people. Yet they didn't feel real based on how they interacted with the main character. Scenes felt alive in the first half, but later they weren't very well described. It felt like the second half was rushed. The UI was nice for the price point. I enjoyed reading through what little was available and making decisions which often felt impactful. Bethesda could learn a lot from this game. Character creation was decent. Not incredible, but good enough for the theater of the mind. I'm left wanting for more. I might buy another game, but one with better reviews than this one.

Super fun and interesting! I love the ideas that occur in the story and I also just love anything set in the 1920's era!
