They Came From a Communist Planet is an excellent game. It's ostensibly a Posadist game, but unless you are deep into leftie circles that won't mean much to you and it doesn't matter anyway. What this game does succeed in is showing the hopelessness of capitalism and how the ruling classes use the police to keep people down. If you have been watching the news coming out of Hong Kong, or Chile, or Lebanon, or anywhere else the cops have been grinding their jackbooted heels on the throats of the people, this game will resonate. I started playing this game the way i would approach any other walking sim - just look around, don't make waves. But then the cops will block you on one side. They will hose you down the other way. Tear gas the other way. There is no way out. Pick up a brick. Smash some windows. Throw a molotov. Fuck the police. Standing up to authoritarianism never felt better.

Unless you already believe in its message, then the game will do little to convince you. There's not enough substance for that. It's also rather on the nose with no further explanation for the various statements. You'll find some enjoyment from throwing bricks and molotov cocktails under a good soundtrack, especially when you've followed the news from places such as Hong Kong, but that's pretty much it. I understood that it would be a short game (~30 min long) and yet, I still don't feel fullfilled. Perhaps you can get more out of it than I can, but I personally find it hard to recommend.
Why isn't it free, it's a game about communism. Disgusting.

Fun little experience with simple mechanics, you can finish it within 20 to 40 minutes, depending how much time you spend looking for secret graffiti spots and just enjoying setting police cars on fire.
