About This Game

Twilights Last Gleaming recreates some of the pivotal battles of the War of 1812 between the United States and the British Empire. The latest strategy game from HexWar Games brings the classic Decision Games board game to Mac; Following on from Rebels and Redcoats, this is the second in a series of games to come from this exciting partnership. Take command as either the American colonies or the British Empire and shape the future of a nation, with 10 historical battles.

You will face tactical challenges with missions of varying size and objectives, and 34 different combat units. As with previous strategy games from HexWar, every effort has been made to capture the look and feel of the warfare methods, equipment and uniform of the day, and this title is no exception. In these battles players will also find the detailed and accurate maps, orders of battle, and named regiments from the well-loved Decision Games board game.

The hex-based game system features a large variety of infantry, cavalry, artillery, generals and terrain types. Use your combined forces to outmanoeuvre, outwit or outshoot your opponent. Victory awaits you, Commander!

Terrible game play, and dreadful in terms of simulating the battles. Played the Battle of Beaver Dams several times as the British, and lost every time. Clearly, an American bias is at work here. Despite the reality of this battle being the utter destruction of the American force in reality, in the game the Americans had overwhelmingly superior numbers and sliced through the First Nations with ease, utterly destroying my units easily. In the actual battle, the British were the reserve and didn't even fire a shot, however, in the game, I cannot win even pressing them into service as quickly as possible. The Americans never miss, and a stack of just 4 or 5 Americans has no trouble erasing an entire British unit in one volley. This is just one sad example of how impossible it is to overcome the American bias in this game. Another detriment, is there is no scenario editor or map editor. You're stuck with the battle the game designers want you to play, and it's missing many of the key bat...
