Griddlers Legend Of The Pirates

I haven't requested a refund on Steam in years. I paid 1.59€ for this crap, and still asked for a refund. Pirate-themed Picross? Great! Oh, no story? What's the point of a theme, then? Wait, the soundtrack is just that trailer music playing endlessly? Even those wouldn't be a problem if the user interface wasn't so horrible. I had my doubts when looking at the video, but it's even worse: it doesn't just make the game boring, it also makes you angry when the interface punishes you for its own shortcomings. Do yourself a favor and avoid all Picross games by this developer, I guess. There are plenty more alternatives that are fun to play. Picross Touch is better in every way (no hints, but also no punishments), and it's free. The Arizona Rose games have a story and the whole 'limited mistakes' thing isn't crippled by a horrible UI. Heck, I'm sure I could write a better game than Griddlers in a few days if I wanted. Do I need to go on..?

I think that the user interface of this one is far worse than the "Fairytale" versions by 8Floor. On this one, there is a lag in hovering over a square and selecting it. Sometimes, that lag will result in a mistake, which will cause you to not get a full 3 stars for the level. Only buy this one on a massive sale and only if you really like nonograms.

To say I was disappointed with this game would be an understatement. I have played other games by this same developer and thought this game would be similar. It's not. I am just glad I bought it on sale for 59 cents. - On the positive side, the controls are fairly standard: left click to mark a square solid (green) to denote solution, right click to mark a pirate-y themed X for not solution. - The puzzles were pirate and sea themed. Yup, it had fish, sharks, boats, (really creepy looking) pirates and mermaids... - There was no story. None. They had pirates and didn't do any story! The only time the pirates "speak" is during the incredibly long tutorial. The description lied to me about pirates and sea monsters and sailing. - They cross out the numbers as you logically fill in the green squares, but (in my opinion) they can get a bit overzealous and make leaps in logic without you. It would be better if I could mark the number off as I used it rather than them doing it for me. Or just...

Making a good UI for a nonogram isn't that hard. This one didn't.

"Griddlers Legend Of The Pirates" is a basic Nonogram game... for those who never played one, it's a kind of grid-deduction-puzzle game, not unlike Minesweeper or Sudoku. You're given a grid and a number of numerical clues. You must deduce where the safe places to click are. In a Nonogram, the correct clicks will reveal a small, obviously low resolution image or pattern. Yay, what fun. This is why top of the line gaming PCs costs thousands of dollars, right? The developer, Creobit, has copy + pasted this game an insane FOURTY ONE TIMES... why cash in on one asset if you can cash in on multiple copies of the same game? Asset flipping begins at home! Use logic to fill in the gaps, pretty straightforward and often challenging. Satisfying when you find the piece that makes everything else just tumble into place.

It would frequently crash when finishing a puzzle and not register that you completed it. The worst one took more than five attempts. More frustrating than fun.

As with other 8Floor griddler games I've played, the controls are too sensitive and the solved puzzles are hard to make out. At least this one adds a little picture for each puzzle AFTER you've solved it, tho the pictures often don't resemble the completed puzzle.

It's picross with a pirate theme. That's about it. I will say that you may have to use hints more than you may like, but it's pretty fun.
