About This Game

CATS, FISH, AND BOMBS!

Kakatte Koi Yo! is a platform fighter where cats battle with powerful fish. With the use of Japanese theming and the irresistible adorableness of cats, KKY creates a fun, fast-paced, competitive co-op game. Players can fight in 1v1 or 2v2 matches where they have three ways to win the round!

BLOW STUFF UP!

Instantly win the round by blowing your opponent's shrine to smithereens with the bomb. Cats are small, and the bomb is big and heavy, don't forget to grab a fish before trying to move it!

DUNK ON EM!

Dunk, snipe, and swish your favorite fish into your basket to earn a point, getting you one step closer to sweet victory.

CAT FIIIIIIGHT!!!

If you are less of a strategist and more of a fighter, forget the other objectives and take your opponent head-on. Drain your opponent's health to ring them out and gain a point. (If you get to the point cap from ring outs and scored fish, you win!)

SINGLE PLAYER

Test and hone your skills in the single-player training mode where you compete against the clock to earn the golden koi.

A fun 4-player brawler where you play as cats. I've done a few matches with my brother, and aside from a few balancing issues with the fish, we had a blast playing the game. Can't wait to see what future updates will entail.

This game combines cute graphics with awesome fighting mechanics, Choose your catacter (pun intended) and get ready for battle. With the single player training and the ability to play with your friends on remote play makes it 100% better. If you have some money lying around and a friend, you can enjoy some good time with your friend.

This game feels like a very talented pixel artist learned a little bit of programming and tried to make a game beyond their scope right away. The sound effects feel like they were taken from random sources, and their volumes differ drastically. There's like, a parry(?) with a meow sound more realistic and louder than anything else in the game, it's not something you want to hear ever. The movement is alright but the game's goal is not clear, and the menus don't make much sense either. I couldn't tell if I was selecting a ruleset or getting a gameplay rundown when starting a multiplayer match. I don't understand what I'm doing in the game either; is my goal to eliminate the other cats, or bring fish back to a shrine? The gameplay doesn't work well if either are the goal. There's also a glitch with just selecting the cat you want to play; pressing left just doesn't work most of the time. I'm sure there's more bugs, considering the overall lack of polish, but I barely played this since it...

Very promising looking game with a cute premise. Looking forward to seeing how this game develops, and what new content the developers might add as things go. Fingers crossed that online play is on the game's short list of planned features.

It's simple. It's cute. It sounds nice. And other than a slightly lagging or slurred feeling in the controls (which I always seem to have in games like this) it feels good to play.

Kakatte Koi Yo is amazing and a return to oldschool gameplay. It is literally our last hope for a good fighter now. If it dies then you can say hello to casual crap. Have fun with Divekick x Death Cargo.
