A nice treat for Metroid and exploration fans in general. The start of the game is a bit slow, but keep playing and you will soon find a really neat MV experience to enjoy here. You are a SolarBot, so you need light to keep running. This means that the game's map is filled with well illuminated areas like labs or even a city, as well as dark places like caverns and forests. This works out great to keep you out of areas you are not yet ready to tackle. Ran out of energy before reaching the place you wanted? It's simple, explore somewhere else and return when your SolarBot has more upgrades. All in all, it's a pretty well made game, albeit a bit short. Exploration is definitely the strongest point of the game and whilst the combat is pretty basic, it doesn't really detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. Recommended!

About This Game
You'll visit the freely explorable planet E.R.S. as a SolarBot. Recover long forgotten technologies and upgrades to unlock new abilities and save your home!
But keep your solar meter constantly in mind.
Avoid dark places and stay in the light to avoid surprising shutdowns.
As the last salvation of a civilization you'll be sent on the mission to gather as much information and data as possible in order to
prevent the decline of your homeland. Maybe you'll find a new home for your creators?
E.R.S. is a planet full of different landscapes and complex cave systems. Often times you'll reach dead ends, whose overcoming will cost more
than mere force of arms. Always think of your energy supply while researching though. If the "SU" drops to 0, it means Game Over! Look for light sources and solar tanks to keep your systems up and running.
--- Watch out, Speedrunners! ---
With the built-in timer function you'll have your current time always displayed on screen.
But watch out: in this game, sprinting costs valuable energy. So what do you prefer?
Weak and fast or slow and strong?
Will you find the route that'll lead you to that one run?
--- The influence and inspiration---
This one is obvious: It's Super Metroid through and through. And I tried to reflect that in every pixel and every note played, without transforming into
an uninspired copy.

Project Solarbot feels like a love letter to Super Metroid. When I picked it up, I hadn't played Super Metroid; something I soon would rectify. In fact, I found myself enjoying Project Solarbot a lot more after doing so -- the game isn't quite as accessible to a complete newcomer to the genre as I'd wish, but going in knowing the basic rules of a Metroid game, you'll feel right at home. This continues to be a theme, at least for me. The game constantly has you running and on edge, because the solar energy mechanic is no joke; it's basically a strict timer on your travels, especially once you dive deeper into the innards of the planet. Personally, I found this a tad aggravating, as I like to explore at my leisure, but I know what Metroid speed runs look like and I think in *that* context, the system adds a nice spicy motivation to get faster and faster. The atmosphere on the other hand, is top-notch. The musical score constantly manages to sound ominous and a bit lonely. It's my highl...
This game is worth the 5€ I've spent on it. It's a nice take on the original metroid games and if you have fun with metroidvanias in general this might be just for you. The movement also feels pretty responsive which I liked a lot.
finished 100%, an absolute blast! so much fun stuff to do, sequence breaking is always fun :D big recommendation!
