There’s a reason why visual novels have a click-to-get-to-the-next line feature. It allows each person to read at their own pace. This game makes you wait 2 seconds before auto proceeding to the next line. As you progress in this game from one uninspired conversation to the next, those 2 seconds suddenly start feeling like the real “Two weeks in Painland”. However, I’m getting ahead of myself. In this game, you play a hacker tasked with overseeing the operations of a Mafia syndicate, while the Boss takes a vacation. You do this by spying on people to keep tabs on what they are doing. You also match potential recruits with the right lieutenants. Send a martial arts expert to a lieutenant who likes just using guns, and they are not going to be happy. Piss them off too much, then they give the Boss a call. And he doesn’t really like being disturbed on his vacation! Breaking into phones involves three hacking mini games. While these are interesting the first time you encounte...

The Good: the humor, the art. It's a breath of fresh air originality-wise. The Bad: if you hate reading, there's no way you're going to like this game. I'd call this a souped-up visual novel. It's refreshing how it plays out: though mostly static images, the camera angles change, and art is different for each scene. So it's not the usual visual novel fare (same character models pasted over the same tired backgrounds). Also, you don't need to click.for.every.single.line.of.text. It's the opposite: text auto-skips after 1-2 seconds, and you can pause anytime. It's like Painland has taken most of what's good from visual novels and left the bad out. There are a couple mini games, and you can die if you screw up too much. While many games incorporate humor, this might be one of the few examples I know where it's probably *the* most important aspect. The first half of the game you're more focused on shuffling resumés and discovering traits of the 4 mafia lords. I thought this was a n...
Hi, This game is too funny, I don't remember having this many laughs with a game before. The story is crazy. Many unexpected twists that will put a smile in your face. Guaranteed. The interface is a little bit simple and sometimes clunky but overall it delivers okay. No mayor complains. Definitely, if you like these kind of games, or just want to have some good laughs, get this game. It even has stand up comedy on it and it's pretty good, haha. Cheers.
My Experience Apparently, this game went free-to-play between the time that I bought it and now. I wish I would've gotten it for free. First of all, I have to give Unusual Games credit for creating something entirely unique. In Two Weeks in Painland, you essentially play as a shady HR rep for the mob. You field resumes, hack into the phones of the applicants to learn more about them, and assign the prospects to one of four lieutenants in the gang. To figure out which applicant to pair with which man, you watch mobster shenanigans through the phone camera of each lieutenant and read their text conversations. You slowly piece together the preferences of each leader in the gang, and become better able to assign them prospects that meet their criteria. The lieutenants have no idea that you are doing this, and if you do it poorly enough, the lieutenants will call the boss to complain about their recruits and you'll then field an angry call from the boss himself. This part of th...
This was a good filler game to relax between sessions of League of Legends. Endearing and funny characters, interesting art... This is not the next Portal 2 but I definitely got my money's worth out of this one. Enjoy it ;)
Bought it Forgot about it Randomly decided to install and play Didn't like it: slow, boring and surprisingly stupid Realized this was now FREE on steam... --> Only option was to thumbs down the hell out of this.
nice
Really nice, but with some drawbacks (at least for me): - I forgot to save the game several times and had to watch the same dialogues all over again (you cannot skip them).Mini-games were super annoying by the end of the story. + I like the characters and it's fun to learn more about them only to confirm they're nutjobs. I'd love to know more about Kaiser though. The art and music are well matched. Sometimes you just need this kind of atmosphere and dirty jokes Note: I don't want to spoil anything, but as a dog person...I was frustrated (or disgusted ?) a lot...
Is haha funny
What a unique and enjoyable game. Game has a great sense of humor (reason why I got it based on other reviews), found myself laughing out loud constantly. Really liked the mechanics of the game (all the puzzle solving and thoughtful story progression). One other important thing worth noting...THE ART...IS PLAIN AWESOME!!! I have not seen any game that possess the artists drawing skill level. The uniqueness of this game is really what makes it a masterpiece. Hope to see more unique titles from the devs in the future. Very fun.
