The game's camera is constantly moving the player while the player is trying to focus on controlling Ven's platforming. Moving the player like this is not a good design decision resulting in a game that is not fun and overpriced for the short 3 hours of playtime. Ven's melee combat is not punchy or satisfying. It's not like the crisp gameplay that Astrobot has. The devs should have adopted an approach similar to Astrobot.

Good VR platformers are very rare, so I'm glad this game is finally released! I only played Ven 1 hour so far and finished level 2, but so far I like it. Very nice graphics, music and level designs and the game works flawlessly and absolutely smooth under Linux via SteamPlay/Proton (5.13-5). If you like platformers and are searching for VR titles, you will probably like this game! Here are some suggestions to make it even better: - add (optional) camera controls (smooth rotation at least, but free camera movement would be really great) - at least in the first 2 levels you did not have the option to directly interact with the area (prepare the path with moving blocks, open secret doors etc) - this would improve the game a lot! - add hidden areas and secrets - later add more levels (dlcs) or maybe even release a level editor (steam workshop)
The (Valve Index) controllers are badly supported; button responses are lagging making fluid gameplay impossible and playing this game a chore. The design choice to move the camera forward instead of following the Ven character is a strange one. Sometimes it is impossible to see where he is at. Dissapointed because I like a good platform game in VR. Aside from the graphics I did not find a playable game here so I refunded. Update: In response to devs question on index controllers. 'Running and high jumping' followed by 'Running and high jumping' results in a 'low jump' on the second jump. Have to stop in between jumps to accomplish the second 'high jump'. Am not experiencing this lagging behavior of the controllers in other games.
So far it is a fun game but I will take a break from it until they allow gamepad support as the left side of my vive controller is messed up.
Really liking the game, the visuals are awesome and gameplay is different to anything iv played which makes it very enjoyable. So far I’d rate it up there with moss as a solid platformer game. I’m using 8kx with index controllers and have no issues so far, nice work on the game!👍
Very basic gameplay with a TERRIBLE camera system. I've tried coming back to this game multiple times but each time the camera just kills the experience for me. On top of that, the devs for this game made many promises for PC but never came through. Read through the Steam Discussion board and you will see them making promises to add achievements and doing hotfixes to make the game better. Multiple years later and no patches seem like a clear indication on their intent. The game could have been good but due to lack of polish and devs that don't care about PC, this game is pretty sub-par.
First review ever. I've only played two levels. I love the direction this game is headed. The level design and overall game fuctionality is awesome. The camera could be better. Smooth turning doesn't work t all for some reason... and autofollow for the character would be nice... but that could just be because that's the vibe of the game as intended. This game proved to me that theirs no reason there couldnt be a full on regular pc games in vr right now aside from companies not willing to give up the 2d money. I would love to play mario odyssey, or the witcher etc like this.
Normally I don't post reviews but this game is an exception. It is one of the best VR games I have ever played. I love the graphics, the gameplay, the music. The camera position some other reviewers write about took me 5 minutes to get used too and are no problem for me at all. Sometimes I just took a break in the game to admire the surroundings. I play on an Oculus Quest 1 with Oculus link. Thank you Monologic Games for making this game!!!
I wanted to love this game so much! The characters, design, interactions are so adorable and I'd love to play it through, but after 40 minutes of play I got so frustrated by the constant camera issues that I decided to ask a refund (played seated). I think the biggest problem is that the camera is not moving back I try to get back with the main character. Another problem is that there are places where due to the camera's place I cannot see the main character.
Ive only played a little while but I noticed several things right off the bat, some good and some bad. Good : nice graphics, ok story, nice colourful worlds. Bad : The camera angles. One of the worst for me is the fact that you cant adjust the height of your camera angle. Over half the time I was sitting and staring down between my legs and I quickly noticed the strain on my neck. Playing in such a position is not enjoyable at all. And then theres the way the camera follows VEN around, it does not feel smooth when you go from one area to another. The camera angles just feel klunky and you have to adjust the angle alot during gameplay.
