This is a really rewarding experience. If you are someone who enjoys folklore, this will be a goldmine for you. The deck-building is quite enjoyable, and maybe it's not as robust as other deck-builders, but it feels truly purposeful, given the narrative/folklore driving the reason behind it and so it's a lovely experience putting together a deck that has synergies and will suit you best in an area and your play-style. The tone and lore here stay with you. I see some folks are not wild about the low-poly cut scenes, but it personally doesn't bother me--I wouldn't let that deter you from picking it up, unless it's an extremely important thing for you to have high visual detail throughout. I would counter that the lower detail makes it easier to bathe in the sound design, the folk music and general ambiance without much distraction.

quite disappointing this game generation where the producers do not include a ng+ function where you can enjoy the game with everything you had achieved i see no pleasure struggling to get strong or unlocking abilities but i cant enjoy replaying the game with a full power, build or a complete deck. iF you fill the need of the challenge restart a new game from scratch but dont force ppl to do that.

Black Book reminded me of Thronebreaker on a smaller budget: a story-driven adventure with deck-building battles. I liked its stylized art, though I wish the human 3D models leaned even more into that style, as they currently look a bit flat and dry. The respectful use of Slavic folklore from the Perm and Komi regions stands out, along with authentic voice acting and archaic vocabulary that highlight how meanings have shifted over time (for instance, “poezd” once meant a retinue; today in Russian it primarily means a railway train). The built-in Durak card game stirred genuine pre-smartphone nostalgia - long train rides with parents and siblings, a deck of cards, and the occasional fellow traveler joining in. I recommend Black Book to players curious about Russian folklore, language, and the sound of older rural speech. It’s approachable even if you don’t speak Russian. English subtitles keep the story clear, while the Russian audio enhances the atmosphere.

Got this game thinking is was similar to Slay the Spire. While a deck building game, it otherwise has little in common. Overall the enjoyed the game play and story. The cards mini-game was not my favorite, but I enjoyed the puzzle battles and problem solving. The deck building was fun with a variety of different ways to flesh out a workable deck. You sometimes have to customize a deck or your item for a specific fight. Negatives: Some puzzles are a little vague on what you should do or where there might be clues. Also saving saves to a location, not where you are at, so if you reload you will have to redo any dialog, choices and battles for that location.

Good game overall. A lot of the terms were going over my head and eventually got tired of hovering over them. The 'open world' portion was kinda janky, but I guess wasn't too bad. Story was pretty interesting and the ending/epilogue was decently satisfying. Maybe if I do a second run, I can do a pure evil run.

Я доволен. Рад сыграть в карты с Летучим Левонтием и заговоры прочесть с Василисой. Оень схоже с деревенскими будями: тоже будь внимателен и усмотрителен, останешься в достатке. Также матери рассказывал, интересные беседы и у перссонажей. Благодарю за своевременное дело, которое так ярко обновляет мою скромную жизнь: я понимаю и о банных обрядах, и о пасхальных яйцах ещё, участливей.
