I've played my fair share of deckbuilders, roguelites, and roguelike deckbuilders. This is hands-down one of the best out there. The sound and graphic design, the variety of builds and ways to unlock them, the themes and enemy designs... it's all so satisfying. What Vault of the Void has up on a lot of other similar games in the genre is the difficulty. Slay the Spire, Monster Train, and a other similar titles are fun, but once you've really figured out how to play deckbuilders as a whole, they get pretty easy pretty fast. VotV is much more difficult, and you'll actually have to use your brain for (most) of the archetypes you play into. And without spoiling too much, you are richly rewarded for completing runs with a lot of cool stuff to make future runs more interesting, challenging, or both. Also helps that the devs are a transparent studio of awesome people. If you enjoy deckbuilders, buy it. If you like a challenge, buy it. If you're on the fence, guess what - buy it. Trust me, ...

The best deck builder I've played since Slay The Spire
There is a lot of depth to this game, and certain features such as the limited deck size and the ability to pick and choose which cards go in makes this game feel better in many regards because player choice is emphasized over skill. As for the inevitable comparison to 'Slay the Spire', the gameplay in this one is better in many regards, but the worldbuilding and presentation are much weaker.
Basically Slay the Spire without its charming visuals and with much more convoluted systems. Still, recommended to those who still haven't had enough of these games and already played higher budget (and, dare I say, better) entires like Roguebook or Monster Train.
Beat the main boss after 4-5 hours/3 runs, would have appreciated more challenge This game is poorly balanced compared to similar games; in every fight you only need to focus the enemy with 100% Reinforcement, and being able to combo Rage/Vulnerable means that most fights can end extremely quickly. I like that the game tries to address Slay The Spire's challenging RNG by allowing you to keep your hand, and to purge cards, and sets the deck to maximum 20 cards, but this puts too much power with the player, and gives you incredible freedom to build up huge combos that can eliminate bosses in a single move - which makes most fights feel trivial :-(
Great game!!!!!
.
At 60 hours in just scratching the surface. Quite possibly the only RLDB that is of the same caliber as StS, and maybe even greater. It's more complex without being convoluted and mechanics are easy to understand.
One of my favorite roguelite card playing games (because there is no RNG, you manage and upgrade, and modify cards, and it plays a lot like a tactical RTS / RPG) … the gameplay is fantastic and can get as simple or complex as you wish, and the graphics and sounds are incredibly entertaining and immersive, and they made this available for all platforms with cross-platform saving (including achievements!) The developers are super passionate and interactive on Discord. We need more games made like this. Tips: Don’t forget to purge unused cards (toss into the right tunnel entrance purge area) for energy. See a threat and use block to keep it down before your turn ends. It’s a different process to other card games but makes total sense in battle.
