About This Game

What is Utopia?

  • City builder simulator
  • Procedurally generated Islands
  • Pleasant and relaxing environment
  • More than 30 game buildings in collection
  • Roads, biomes, city and production centres
  • Islanders who live in your cities
  • Complete missions and achieve new buildings for future games!
  • World wonder challenge levels
  • Free play mode
  • Each round is unique and everything that happens depends on the player's actions

What are the game rules?

  • The gameplay is quite intuitive. You start on an empty island, with a standard set of construction blueprints on hand that you can place. Placing buildings awards points. The number of points you get depends on what surrounds the building, when you place it. Collect points to improve your island and unlock new buildings.
  • Once your island is developed enough, you can advance to the next island. If you run out of buildings, the game ends.

I don't know why this game looks and plays almost exactly like the game Islanders, but seems to be developed and published by a different company, and to be honest, I have no interest in doing the research to find out. To be clear though, this game is incredibly dull compared to Islanders. There is almost no reason to build one building instead of another and the game floods you with copies of the same handful of buildings making everything quickly feel pointless. Utopia feels and looks like a straight up theft of Islanders, left to die half way through its development. It's not even worth its sale price.

It's an "Islander" rip-off just much worse. Refund @Developer: Please let me apologize for not understanding your magnificent game. I hope you will accept that my small mind requested a refund as I can not grasp the beauty behind your creation and thus it would be wasted on me.

In short - this game is a repetitive grind. Inspiration in the way of Islanders is readily apparent, though this game is anything but. The gameplay bears surface similarities, but whereas Islanders constantly has you figuring out best building placements, in this game the only decisions you make are a) where you put the hub for specific type buildings; b) how you fit said buildings on the grid around it. Oh, I'm sure there's more gameplay intricacies and buildings and so on. Trouble is, I have to keep playing the same-looking islands the same darn way every time so I can unlock ONE variety of building available on the next island, only to discover that it plays the exact same way as the ones I already have. Oh, the houses are stone now? Great. Doesn't change ANYTHING about how I place them. Say what, I got a NEW type of field... that doesn't interact with pretty much anything I've unlocked so far. Amazing. Such gameplay, much diverse. I have some notes on the quality of the graphics...

As one who put in a number of hours on Islanders, I decided to try this game out. So far, I like what I see. It has a number of elements that Islanders lacks, like paths between the hovels and people walking about. It gives the cities a liveliness that Islanders lacks. The biome guide to buildings is a big help too. I am looking forward to see how this game develops.

If you haven't played ISLANDERS play that instead, it is the stronger game in every way. If you have played and loved ISLANDERS already and want a grid-based twist on its formula Utopia is for you! Just make sure to bring your own lo-fi beats to build/relax to :)

nice game almost gives me feeling of true godus 2.0 even though they this and that completely diffrent +neat artstyle +soundtrack =could use some more varity styles for hovels stone homes and luxury mansions example diffrent skins =marketplace refuses to be placed in situations where road must be connected even if its close to road -wonder building can be bit headache epsially last one as last goal (since you have to complete goals in order which its annoying) is to place treasury but one time theres was already in place and i got to that part game didnt check that i had already placed it

Boring and dull. Looks like Godus a low-rent version of Godus. Nothing "soothing" about this game, just annoying.

Nice, relaxing game. Similar to Islanders but I prefer this one for a few reasons: - Grid lines make for neater building placement. - Positive and negative numbers on buildings are easier for me to see. - Campaign and mission modes are fun. - Developer answers questions and patches bugs quickly.

I love this game! Coming from Godus (on mobile) I was searching for alternative for PC and this just covers everything. Has great graphics and controls, for this price its totally worth getting if you want to relax.
