edit: online requirements finally got removed, so I edited the review. hexadrift is a short, simple and fun game. your spaceship crashes and you have to collect resources from hex-based levels to upgrade your scanner to be more efficient and repair your ship. the gameplay is basically clicking on colored hexagons, each representing one of the 8 resource types, credits, or fuel. you start with a single sector available and there are 10 more to unlock with credits, each with 3 different resource types, besides money and fuel, of course. when you enter a sector, everything's paused, so you can plan your route from the starting position to an exit. it's important to reach one, as resources are only awarded if you leave like that (except fuel, which is instantaneous). asking for extraction is also an option, but you lose a bunch of resources and half your fuel. each move takes 6 fuel (except a move to a fuel cell, that's free), and you can't click on already scanned hexes a...

It tries with its background and graphics, but ultimately Hexadrift is not much of a game, let alone a puzle game. At first it is a clicking slog with minor challenge, in the middle it becomes a grind devoid of any challenge, towards the end it is unbearable, to be finished only if you've somehow become addicted. But why would you? Clickety-click without reason or rhyme gets you through easy peasy, no planning or skill needed at all - (provided you heed certain basic advice. If you don't heed that advice, on the other hand, you'll never make it out of the initial slog phase. The sad thing about this unbalanced mess is that with some thought or effort in level design it could have become a much, much better game. If you do want to give it a try because the premise sounds intriguing - and it does - heed a third beginner's advice next to the progression of upgrades (more credits, still more credits, more fuel) and what to look for (fuel, then credits, ignore the rest) that is strangely ...
It's good. A casual puzzle/clicker game that requires you to optimize your routes/clicking patterns. Starts a bit slow, but then gains momentum as you progress. Completed the game in 3 hours. Definitely worth its money. Give it a try!
While it is a neat little game, it feels more like a proof of concept than a finished product. While not buggy, the game is unbalanced. With some tweaking it could be decent. You start off needing to literally wait to refuel. You could spend your in-game cash but you need it for upgrades. So you wait. But once you unlock the first few upgrades, the game becomes wildly easy and it is just a matter of grinding through to unlock the rest. Not unpleasant, but not really worth the effort.
great game
It's a fun game! I love the hexagon aspect of the maps, and having to figure out which direction you need to traverse while watching the aliens closing in is really cool. Adds another element to the game. Definitely recommend for a casually intense game!
I enjoyed this game. I did complete it all in one sitting. I skipped some of the upgrades once I got the hang of the game and went right to the most effective ones instead of hitting each along the line. Which maybe why the difficultly seemed to fall off a cliff. Perhaps they should be locked until you buy each step-wise with no skipping? Just a thought. Worth the price if you enjoy this kind of game I think.
