About This Game

Sons of Ra is the award-winning competitive tower defense game by indie studio Pharaoh Hound Games. Play solo or join your friends in this unique strategic experience.

After the death of the Pharaoh, the rulers of Upper and Lower Egypt, each lusting for more power, fought for domination over the lands of the Nile. Take control of one of these Pharaohs to build, conquer, and destroy. Only one will stand as the true Ruler of Egypt.

Build powerful defenses and expand your control across the board. Towers provide your keep with a strong defense against invaders, or can be used aggressively for lane control to push your warriors forward. There are multiple maps to choose from, each offering a distinct experience and new strategic possibilities.

Your soldiers each fill an exclusive role on the battlefield. Spearmen find strength in numbers, swarming the enemy and defeating them through sheer volume. Shieldbearers have the ability to protect those around them, drawing attention and damage to themselves. Archers have attacks that can rip through several of your foes at once, and Catapults lumber across the map, pushing your adversaries back and demolishing their defenses.

Choose your deity wisely. All of them have a variety of unique abilities that can turn the tide of battle in a single moment. Ra can call upon the power of the sun to destroy entire hordes of hostile troops, while Anubis can summon a priest who will turn your opponent's forces against them, creating a tireless army of the dead.

We have a lot of new content in the works, including maps, blessings, and entire deities. We're making a game that we want to play, and we're excited to share that game with you all. Check back here often for updates, and we'll see you on the battlefield.

It's really good. Negative comments are from players with few hours played. There is a lot of depth in this game and it can't be explored within 1-2 hours. Parting with our money can be difficult. This one is worth it.

Alright quick review under 2 hours played. It's a FAST paced tower defense with all controls done through the mouse. That brings me to what I dislike so far. Tower defense is cool and all but when I have to hold a mouse button down then select a defense/offense/power by sliding the mouse then placement after that. It's just not intuitive. It should be abilities and units are selected with the keyboard and placement is through the mouse. That would allow the player to place units and abilities WAY faster. Bugs: Through my time with multiplayer I've seen a few bugs. Other Opponents units don't show up at all. Not tower no nothing. So It's not just on my end but the other user too. Its day one but they've got some controls and bugs to work out. Looks good enough though but i'm not going to recommend this game to others at this time due to the couple of bugs I've seen and the atrocious controls. Edit: Coming back in for a quick review change. I appreciate Otter Outta Water reaching o...

first off i did have some fun but not enough to were i would recommend it to a friend, currently only two game modes arcade and multiplayer if you decide to play arcade the first half of its fun but then the ai decides to roll up its sleeves and just decimate you and it just starts being not fun anymore not to mention its kinda unfair that the player has to unlock unites and towers and the ai from what i saw doesn't have to. like i said it was fun then it just got frustrating and stopped being fun and i mean you'd think for a tower defense game there would be a survival mode, as dumb as it sounds i like the art style and kinda want to see where this game can go. UPDATE:Unfortunately it appears this game is now abandoned

I played a lot of tower defense games, but this "jumping" radial wheel for building towers and units is just terrible, sorry.

RTS/DoTA style hybrid based loosely in Egyptian theme/mythology. The game appears to be deceptively simple, but in actuality has a surprising amount of depth. Units are rock paper scissors type and picking the right unit against AI and other players is important as you're stuck with two types until the end game. Very snowbally and controlling tempo is important. Zerging units down lanes may win the first few matches but expanding in territory/lane control with turrets becomes increasingly important as time goes on. I've only played RA at this point (game is called sons of RA) and honestly his little laser beam thing is satisfying to use. It feels impactful and can melt units and turrets across the map or over an area. The visuals are fitting and lends a certain indie charm to it. The music is well crafted and gives the player a certain immersion adding layers to the addictivity that leaves you wanting to continue to play. And while most of the maps do end up looking similar there a...

This is one of the most frantic Tower Defense Versus games I have ever played. It is a relatively simple game but there is a lot of depth to what you can do strategy wise which makes it really good. I just really wish the developers would update it more. There is a lot of potential here and everything is pulled off really well but it seems they don't work on it anymore. Besides all of that, I would absolutely recommend this game. It's a blast playing against your friends!
Only buy when on deep discount
This is a fast and simple game. And as such, it can be fun. However, in single player it didn't really hold my interest. (Full disclosure: I am a scholar of ancient Egyptian history, and I was looking forward to this game for lighthearted breaks from study.) But I do have to wonder whether it's actually worth fifteen bucks. I think for that I would have expected something more. Perhaps for multiplayer (which admittedly I haven't tried)?

Fun quick RTS game, certainly easy to learn, and balanced. Wish more people played it though.

A versus tower defense that is easy to pick up, but requires a good deal of strategy. Played this at a convention and was thrilled to see this get a full release. Tons of fun to play with a friend. Great aesthetic and music. I never write reviews, but I wanted to sing this game's praises. If the concept appeals to you, this will be a fun multiplayer game at a reasonable price point.

Great, fast-paced tower defense game with an Egyptian God theme. Single player arcade offers a fight tower (think Mortal Kombat). No matchmaking at the moment, but easy to jump into a game with friends and folks over on the Discord. Multiplayer is fast and fun. All units and buildings are the same across Gods, but the special abilities are different enough to add some variety to gameplay. Additional Gods unlock as you level up. Just check it out. It's fifteen bucks and it's not like you're going to play all those old dusty games in your Steam library.
