Willy Elektrix, or A. Hagen, or whoever it might be that made this game, is one of my favorite developers of all time. I first stumbled across them through the now desiccated husk of a site JayIsGames, which posted a review of a game called RAMBLE PLANET. It was incredibly weird, colorful, aggressively unique, and filled with pages and pages of this striking prose describing a totally alien and often disgusting environment. RAMBLE PLANET is, I think, one of my favorite games I've ever played. I went on to play VOID PYRAMID and the MEGALENNIUM cart, both also fantastic, and I was hooked. When I first caught a glimpse of ALIEN SQUATTER on the creator's Tumblr, I was psyched out of my mind. Every screenshot and every snippet about the game's features only increased my excitement. As soon as I got the email that the game was out, I bought it almost immediately. Good God, I was not disappointed. This game is an incredible synthesis of every other Willy Elektrix game I've played thus far. ...

I'm not sure how I feel about it after playing for an hour and a half. I went with recommend because... despite some of my complaints, it could be a fun game overall. and, I think if I get far enough into it, I might enjoy it more. PS. You can't use your mouse. Not really a downfall, but I wasn't expecting it. Pros: - I got a brain shard. I can now teleport home.... After 200-300 steps instead of 100-150. //It does not work 100% of the time.... so.... oops. - It's cute - I feel like it has potential. - Despite the beginning frustrations, I almost want to continue to play. Later game play might prove more rewarding. - In general, I appreciate games like this. It has some cool features you probably already read about in the description. So, there's that. Cons after 1.5hrs of play: - The novelty wore off into monotony. - The step-limit is atrocious; the days feel wasted and too short. - Purchasing certain new things is a mystery, what will it really do? [i] I bought a fa...

Disco Elysium demade for the Gameboy Color. Enjoyed its neon-grunge atmosphere and atypical RPG structure. I love all the weird little secrets and elements, especially the pets, reminded me a little of Horse Master and Diaries of Spaceport Janitor. A fun experiment well worth your time.

There's one very important feature the game does not list in the store page and upon playing the game it was a deal breaker for me, and that's that movement depletes energy, And if you run out of energy you pass out and wind up in a hospital. Which in theory is neat but it's executed very poorly, you only get about 300 energy per day so that leaves you very little time to get anything done. It would have been better to make certain actions cost energy, for a game like this it just doesn't work, Some games do have something like this like Project Zomboid or Dwarf Fortress Adventurer mode but it takes much much longer for it to happen, and in those games you have the option to slow down or just rest in a spot until you recuperate. Here you HAVE to back to your tent. I think you can consume food for more energy but the game also penalizes you for eating, which would be perfectly fine if movement wasn't so restricted. And in a game centered around exploration and interaction this seems com...

There is no reason this should be a free game. Bursting with imagination and eccentric design, this... alien poverty sim?... is cheeky, well written, and as charming as it is horrifying. I'm not going to tell you its perfect, and I have a /profound/ gripe with it wiping your save once you're done, but it's genuinely one of my favorite narrative driven games on Steam and the fact that it has /as much stuff/ as it does and is as good as it is boggles my mind as to why the developers simply gave it away. In short.. like, yes. Play it. If you like strange, fucked up worlds that serve as critiques of our own, rendered in a charming and idiocentric style, and also gives you a ton of goofy aliens to interact with, play it now.

A really good game, especially for the low price! Reminds me of a better designed Diary of a Spaceport Janitor. Tense resource management coupled with good writing and a memorable world makes for a very fun little game.

https://youtu.be/NsPH98_SzGE World building and base setting is fascinating but a restrictive stamina system makes exploration a chore and breaks the pacing of the experience.

i've literally only played this game for an hour, but i felt like i needed to write a review about it already, because this game is the shit. i found out about this game through void pyramid, and decided to check out the other developer's games. void pyramid is just about my favorite game of all time, so i had high hopes for this game, and i wasn't disappointed in the slightest. visually, the art style is endearing and interesting to look at. i love the overwhelming amounts of pink paired with the futuristic design of the maps. the character design is so unique and individual to each npc, i've already grown attached to old tandy within the first hour of playing. their experiences and their commentary really make the world feel real and like you're actually connecting and bonding with them. the music, just like in void pyramid, absolutely bangs. what i genuinely appreciate in this game is the strong commentary on class, privilege, gentrification, health care, and police brutality. i m...
