I could give a more expansive review, but I think I'm simply going to say, I don't think I knew the game I was buying. It's relatively fun, has many positives, and I'll probably still play it now and again...but this game really lacks the stakes and progression of the first game. Dying in that game was expected, little incremental upgrades felt amazing because you got a little further. Going out of your way to do side quests and puzzles felt really worthwhile because it meant a better chance of surviving, fighting harder enemies, progressing the story, going towards your goals. This game feels kinda pointless and directionless most of the time. It very much suffers from the MMORPG mechanic of slightly better gear to fight slightly harder enemies to get slightly better gear to fight.......so on and on. And so many "puzzles" that are just flying around for 20 minutes trying to find the one hidden shield generator, or power core, or whatever that they hide and doesn't come up on your scre...

I loved this game at first, but by the time you open the 3 or 4 system main quest have too many puzzles. I'm so disappointed. I've gone back to Everspace 1, because I want to dogfight in a spaceship. I thought that was what I was getting with the second installment.

I bought this game shortly after I bought myself a gaming PC, 2 years ago, having spent 25 years as a console player using controllers. With hindsight trying to get used to M&K with this game was a mistake and I bounced off it for that reason alone. On a whim I decided to try playing it again and decided I'd use my controller this time and this game is so good - the story is good, the exploration is amazing fun, the weapons and progression feel meaningful, hell even getting the ship colour upgrades from defeating enemies feels satisfying, even if it is just another shade of grey :) Anyway, I'm only 12 hours in but damn this game is enjoyable. I know I'd have more fine control with a m&k but I'm having a blast playing and that's what it's all about. The weapons are impactful and hearing a missile smash into an asteroid or another ship is never not satisfying, the different guns also feel and sound fairly unique and have that thump or bite. To be honest, I'm getting the same vibes from...

🚀 Everspace 2 – A Loot Shooter Trapped in Space, Without the Depth to Match If I had to sum this one up, it’s: “The first ten minutes of combat... is the rest of the game.” That’s not me being cheeky. That’s me staring at my ship, ten hours in, wondering why nothing has evolved except the enemy health bars and the number of lasers I have to dodge. 🔬 Systems Breakdown • Space Combat? Yeah, it’s slick. Tight controls, flashy dodges, lots of pew-pew. The problem? That’s it. You’ve played 80% of the combat in the first 30 minutes. Bigger battles come later, sure. You get more weapons, abilities, and a few new tricks. But the way you engage never really changes. There’s no transformation. No escalation. Just stat inflation and more visual clutter. • Ship Variety? There are multiple ships, yes. But don’t get excited—they’re sidegrades, not actual upgrades. You’re not building toward a heavy frigate, a s...

Everspace 2: A Great Game Missing Its True Potential Without VR Everspace 2 is a well-crafted game with gorgeous visuals, engaging combat, and plenty of exploration. It certainly works, and there's a lot to enjoy about it. In many ways, I think this game would have been even more successful if it had been released a decade or two ago, it has that classic space shooter charm. However, one of the biggest missed opportunities here is the lack of VR support. The first Everspace embraced VR, and it was a key part of the immersion for many players. Without it, Everspace 2 feels like it’s missing that extra layer of magic that could have made it truly exceptional. As a result, it’s a solid game, but it doesn’t quite reach the heights it could have.

While the game is not bad, but annoying "Supporter Pack" ADs inside the game is a very bad business practice. No way I'll spend a dime after that. Rather will search for a mod which wipes out all marketing garbage from the game.

Great game in it's genre. 171 hours so far but still got many to come. I wish that devs make more DLCs but it seems that there will no more. Waiting for Everspace 3.

Remember Wing Commander; Privateer? Flying around in space, ignoring the main plot, blowing up pirates and cultists with a ship that grew ever more powerful? This game really evokes those memories, but with much better graphics. Gameplay is just as advanced, too. The main quest does seem like a well-written and engaging one, this early in the game, but I'm mostly recommending on the strength of how fun this is to play with the core mechanics. I did find the controls of the light and midweight ships to be too squirrely to really enjoy, but the introductory plot missions kept me coming back and once I could swap out for a heavy ship my fights got a lot more smooth. I'm now addicted. <3
