About the Game

You seek untold riches, eternal life, divine powers - it leads to this accursed temple, a seemingly-infinite labyrinth of bottomless pits, deadly traps, and monsters.

Collect mystical Relics and an arsenal of weapons to make yourself unstoppable. Battle through hordes of enemies in dark, cavernous passages filled with traps and secrets of all sorts - fire-spewing statues, explosives, hidden spikes, and worse.

Corruption builds in you with every step - encourage or ignore it, but each powerful curse can be a double-edged sword.

Your greed will lead you to death, but that is not an escape. Rise to fight again. Delve deeper again. Defy the malignant deities that linger in this place.

MAIN FEATURES

 • A skill-based roguelike exploring a cruel, dark temple made of endless rooms and corridors

 • Swords, spears, bows, guns - wield these and many more

 • Light and fire will be your best allies to overcome the threats that lie in the shadows

 • Unique curses influence each attempt, putting a twist on every action

 • Dozens of enemies, with powerful champions and deadly bosses to face off against
It has some fun and interesting ideas, but most of its core systems just aren't well designed
The positives: cool atmosphere and artstyle, you truly feel like a tomb raider. The combat is butter-smooth (which is why I played for as long as I did), the light-dark mechanic, the ever-present Curse as a double-edged sword, which is a resource and a threat at the same time you have to manage, constantly striking tradeoffs with it is interesting and quite gripping, for a time. However, almost everything else ranges from mid to negative. The games fun factor nosedives in the midgame after you defeat the tier 2 bosses, reaching tier 3 is a boring grind (never mind re-running if you failed). You kill the same monsters over and over again, but with more HP as you climb the ranks, run the same rooms with the same traps, with nothing really fresh inbetween (like story/quests/events etc) to shake up the gameplay loop. And the bosses just aren't fun or well-designed. Some weapons ...

This game has a lot of fun aspects to it. Basically rogue adventure runs but you have traps that you can only see in the light, so you have to light enemies on fire, or have your torch or a shining type of weapon in hand or you won't see much. The curses are the fun part of the game. Each curse, except the final one, is a unique blend of positive and negative. And in some cases it might be a positive curse based on your style or your character build. The last one is always a harsh DOT, and not fun, but it takes a LOT to get to that point. More often you will die before that curse even triggers. Some of them remind me of Eternal Darkness' Sanity effects (which you should absolutely look up cause they're fun). There's a lot of breakable walls with hidden rooms which you can use a heavy weapon or explosions from traps or such to open. Your fire can activate traps on enemies or make them into a light source, as I mentioned above. Oh yea, in general, when you're in light you take less dam...

+ beautiful look & feel, audio, theme light/dark mechanic fits the concept really well - stamina is clunky light/dark mechanic was neat at first, but got in the way more than was fun too RNG - way too many things that don't feel useful really visually noisy But hey, their next game, Ravenswatch, is pretty awesome, go check that out.

Giving this a thumbs up, but with the caveat that the novelty can wear thin after a bit. The combat of the game is phenomenal, and it's very rewarding to gradually master the parrying and dodging over many runs, to the effect that it's a roguelike that feels like the value of your skills far outweigh the luck of the draw on items. And in the beginning, runs only take about 30 minutes, which I found to be the perfect length. Unfortunately, the fun wore out for me fairly quickly. After you clear a run and beat the boss, you unlock a new tier of the same run, which simply doubles the length and adds another boss. Beat those two bosses, and you get yet another tier that's now 3 bosses and triple the length. This starts to feel like a slog, and everything very samey, just longer and harder. Add to this the lack of weapon/affix variety, and the game loses its luster a bit. Which is a shame, because the gameplay is incredibly solid. If you don't mind the lack of variety, absolutely pick it...

Going through the list of games I really enjoyed to review them and remembering this one. This is a solid, very high quality Roguelite game that has a strong artstyle and good animation, the weapons can feel a bit weak depending on how far into the run you get without much luck but you get many other means of dealing damage. The treacherous Aztec temple that you explore is also full of traps you have to avoid and I thought it was a refreshing way to keep you on your toes. This was also easily the hardest 100% achievements I have ever done on a game so far, if you know you know..those damn curses. Worth buying for sure.
