While being quite brutal at times, HEXTERMINATE is highly addictive and I find myself wanting to do "just one more sector". The space battles get really intense when there are multiple ships involved, and if you are not careful you can find yourself being overwhelmed and destroyed before you have a chance to charge your jump drive and get to safety. Tactical targeting of enemy ship's modules while thoughtful movement and positioning of your own ship to protect your modules is a necessity if you want to succeed. Speaking of modules, the ship building in this game is pretty cool. You can choose from various hexagonal nodes that you collect while taking down enemies to build a seriously beefy battleship, or a speedy hit and run gorilla warfare style destroyer. You can't just cover your ship in weapons and armour and call it a day, as your power will quickly drain and you will be a sluggish sitting duck. It's quite rewarding when you manage to build a well balanced ship that just melts th...

About This Game
A fairly straightforward statement, although not one echoed by all of the other factions in the galaxy. HEXTERMINATE puts you in command of the Imperial flagship, under orders to conquer the galaxy. Diplomacy has been discarded in favour of the "more firepower" approach, as 'making friends' is not on the Emperor's agenda. How difficult can it be?
- Modular construction
Each ship is built out of hexagonal modules which slot together, including armour, reactors and weapons. With dozens of different types and rarity levels, you build the spec you want. It is your choice how you will tackle galactic conquest: from massive behemoths with layered armour to blitzing sniper battlecruisers. Given that every module is individually destructible, a few well placed shots at your enemy's ships can be devastating. - A living galaxy
The galaxy changes over time as the various factions vie for power. Fleets embark on missions, sectors are won and lost, every game will play out differently. Even in the middle of a fight reinforcements can turn the tide for either side.
- Your own fleet
Assemble a fleet to accompany you in your quest, from long range gunships, front-line battleships and support vessels. Or decide to keep all the glory for yourself, fighting on your own against a hostile galaxy. - Perk system
Further customise how you tackle HEXTERMINATE by acquiring perks as you destroy enemy ships: from access to experimental ships to add to your fleet to increased rate of fire for each landed shot, you'll find a range of options to complement your style of play.

User Reviews
The game is very similar to the ship design in Space Run and its sequel Space Run Galaxy by Passtech Games except you do not have to defend any cargo. Yet it can also be compared to Boss Constructor by Mirko Seithe where the gameplay is very dynamic and the random module drops giving you new creative ways to play. The battles can go from trivial to down right lethal if you are not careful. Yet overall a compelling game to play.
The depth in this game is excellent! I predict hours of customisation, trying to find the best ship configuration. I really like the mechanics
Absolutely love this game.... very addictive "one more try" quality where you take the "Buildyourownspaceship" concept and mix it with a campaign map and some loot. Reminds me of Spaz 2 mostly.
Fun game, similarish to Space Run. Developer seems to be is very responsive and friendly.
So I have played this game for roughly 2 hours, and this game is really cool! I remember a game similar as a flash game ages ago, however this is also completely different and exciting! Every game is different, every battle is different and I can honestly say I am enjoying it. The ONLY issue I have is there isn't a way to increase/decrease map size or add other empire factions for a more hectic game! I would also like to see some changes with each empire, for example, having a "flag" or maybe set up a fleet that is AI controlled, but you can arrange the fleet yourself. So if you want a fleet of nothing but battleships you could, or if you want some strong fast gunships, you can! But overall would strongly recommend to ANYONE who loves SCI-FI and RTS games.
Like Starsector but worse in pretty much every way. Strategic layer is unintuitive and seems to be constantly in motion even when you're trying to figure out what the map is trying to show you or how to do anything. Pause when player is idle would be nice. Resource management is laughable, in that you have literally 1 resource (cleverly named "Resource Units") and you only seem to receive it by winning fights (which cost that resource if you do badly, since you'll be replenishing your fleet) or by spending a bunch of perk points to get to a single max level perk from the Empire tree which lets your sectors produce passive income. Accessing the shipyard menu requires you to exit the strategic layer and enter the tactical layer, maneuver a bit, then 'dock' (open the menu) instead of just letting you open the menu from strategic layer when in a shipyard sector. Everything you want to do seems to be either insufficiently deep (click to move, for example) or way too deep (access shipyard)...
This game scratches an itch in fleet command I've really been trying to salve. It has room for development, but it's already quite fun where it is.
One more turn
Solid ship build-out-of-blocks war game. Recommended if you like Starcom Nexus, SPAZ or the like. Pros: Dedicated and responsive Developer Who Cares. Only need fair arcade skills and shipbuilding skills to go far. But high tech fights can be quite hairy. Resource mgmt is an issue in the early game but then is a non-issue. Cons: Campaign can get confusing as to how to progress...might need to forum dive to figure out what to do next.
