About This Game

Elea: Memories

Elea is a surreal sci-fi adventure game in which you play as space scientist Elea. In 2073, Earth was struck by a horrid childhood disease and Elea’s husband Ethan joined an expedition to colonize Solace, a habitable exoplanet, to save humanity from extinction. The interstellar ship he was on, Pilgrimage, went radio silent shortly after it reached planet Solace. Thirteen years later, Elea joins a recovery mission to investigate the faith of the expedition. What follows is a wondrous journey through space.

Features

  • Unravel a rich, touching story inspired by books of classic sci-fi writers
  • Submerge yourself in amazing graphics powered by Unreal Engine 4
  • Discover gorgeous space environments, spectacular vistas and detailed interiors
  • Expect the unexpected on this curious journey through outer space

Story

Elea is a game that takes the player on the deeply personal journey of a woman, whose life is marked by loss, grief and self-accusation in the aftermath of a global pandemic that turned her youngest boy into a raging psychopath. Luckily, an Earth-like exoplanet within an achievable distance from the Solar system had been recently discovered. Pooling volunteers from around the globe, a first-of-a-kind interstellar spacecraft was built and sent to colonize the yet unexplored planet. The gargantuan ship was named Pilgrimage, embodying the hopes of all of the humanity. To everyone’s dismay, shortly after a successful arrival, the Pilgrimage went on total radio silence. What caused it remains a mystery.

13 years later, research starship Recovery has arrived on site to investigate the fate of the expedition. The player takes the role of the space scientist River Elea Catherine Jones. She is driven above all by a personal goal – to find her husband Ethan, who occupied a prominent position on the Pilgrimage’s scientific crew. By putting the character up against events and phenomena which are beyond human grasp, the game aims to defy the conventional notions of personal accountability, choice and meaning of life. It is a story about our fragility as a species, about finding solace through surrender.

Obnoxious and unnecessary. That sums up the entirety of this game's opening. I can appreciate this game trying to be abstract or different. But the seizure warning should be a warning for everyone. As the opening is filled with terrible lighting and color choices that make part of the game unbearable to look at. Painful even. And then the games pacing. So painfully slow combined with the awkward menu handling makes it dull to play through. It does look cool and I enjoy the set up of the actual story. Its pretty mysterious in terms of the setting and whats actually going on. Which leaves me with a sense of hope for future games. Just make the game fun to play with the great singleplayer story and weirdness that attracted me to this game.

*THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE GAME NOT BEING EPISODICAL, WHICH I HAVE FOUND OUT IT IS AFTERWARDS. DEVS RESPONDED AND HOPING FEEDBACK IS HEARD AND IMPLEMENTED* This actually took me far less than 2 hours to complete. Im super salty because the setup of the story was great and I was looking forward to it progressing, but it literally went nowhere? I must be missing something because from what I can see: a) there are still plenty of game-breaking bugs after the re-release (I had to quit the game twice, quite immersion breaking and this is in a game that takes less than 2hrs) b) biggest of all, it sets up a great story, and then nothing happens. literally. Your protagonist has a husband that went on an expedition to find a planet and they went on a comms blackout. You (the wife) want to go and investigate. You get off of your ship via an escape pod. THIS IS THE ENTIRE GAME. Seriously guys, I want to believe I've missed things, but i'm so disappointed. Such possibilities wasted.

"ELEA" is a great adventure game with solid story & beautiful visuals. A lot has changed since the Early Access days and now the game is a solid walking sim. I'm waiting for news about the second episode/part of the game.

ELEA is surely very crazy and is an excellent little gem in the walking sim genre. It has interesting story and I like how the devs are using some of Kojima's experimental gameplay elements from PT. Pros: - Good Visuals. - Nice Story. - Cheap price on sales. Negative: - Short. - At some places you really don't know what to do and have to look at everything to proceed. - Devs can improve some of the voice acting. - Some of the fractal visuals are too crazy even for me.

This game is not for everyone - if you appreciate great visuals and a bit of digging to understand the compelling story, then it's for you. So far, the main complaints from reviews seem to be slow movement at the beginning and the psychedelic art, which I don't have a problem with. The sound design and music score are lovely, the visuals are of excellent quality, and the voice acting is fine. If you are into slow-paced story games, this is a great one for you!

Ploddingly slow opening sequence is followed by an incomprehensible psychedelic trip to a locked room for which there appears to be no logical way to escape. After several tries, it restarts you (kind of). If you like trying endlessly until you make sense of the insensible, you might like this. If you are looking for another Tacoma, Xing, or Aporia, go elsewhere.

Very interesting game. So far just getting into the story but the house you start out in is very nicely done! The house is futuristic and the story seems appealing. The story continues in space on the space ship where you can access memory simulations. One of the memories is from city on Mars and the city looks amazing. The city has Blade runner, cyber punk, anime kinda feel to it. There are a lot of robots and cool holograms all around. Very nice details and graphics. Here are few first impressions, enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBJsYtkqe6w&feature=youtu.be

I lost the motivation to play ELEA when I died an hour into the game without even understanding I was doing everything wrong. I actually thought the game was finally taking off the moment I died. This is how abstract ELEA is (in a bad way). And apparently being pregnant makes it impossible to walk in a normal pace, you walk extremely slow. This was an incredibly frustrating experience and I do not intend to finish it. Don't even think about buying this buggy and unfinished crap on sale.

Not really a game. It's more link fragments of what could've been a game. The bit and pieces of the story are scattered with little to no context, as well as an unclear timeline. Then it ends, just as you think it might have gotten interesting. It's a real shame too, because it had the potential to become good, and the graphic is great. It's like someone just ran out of budget. Also, super short
