Spent a good while walking around, pretty sure I was losing my mind with the flashes of light. 10/10 would go crazy again.

About This Game
Explore the Backrooms, an empty office space filled with the stench of old, moist carpet, the hum-buzz of fluorescent lights, and only the comfort of knowing you might not actually be alone in approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms. *Seriously, this is not a game.*

I bought this after watching the creepypasta on youtube which was really interesting and spooky! So i had somewhat high expectations for this game. Sadly i can't recommend this because I think there are some really important things missing compared to the creepypasta. If the devs were going to add a few certain things related to the original creepypasta and update it, it would really have the potential to be a neat and scary game. (which really shouldn't be too difficult) I also i got a headache everytime i started playing this game, so atleast that works and stays true to the creepypasta :D
You can walk, you can run, you can stand still, you can simulate wandering around a mono yellow infinite space. It's everything you will ever want out of a game.
For what it's marketed as, it really isn't that bad. You just kinda walk around, which isn't any more or less than what I was told it would be. My only gripe is that 4 of the available achievements, which are pretty much your only drive in this game, have no description, so I'm not sure how to unlock them. 11/10, definitely is walking.
Nerve-wracking, truly nerve-wracking. Walking through the dreaded halls trying to remember where I started was scary, and when you dedicate to finding where you came from, it becomes impossible. The buzz of the harmless-yet-intimidating lights makes my brain try to fill in the rest of the sounds: did I hear people talking? children playing? did I just hear something walk by and breathe? or is it just my imagination? Despite these worries, I definitely do not regret this, and I aim to reach a 10 hour mark of gameplay in my attempt to make contact with something not at all present in this "game," which may or may not be to the liking of my mental stability.
needs more work its boring at the moment it needs something that poses as a legitimate threat to you like a monster chasing you or something
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2. Beta Branch 4/4/2022.
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/iXSeesOAThs I don't get this game or the internet meme culture that spawned this creepypasta. However, it's budget priced at only $2 USD and it delivers on what it promises. Therefore, I can at least give it a neutral recommendation. You're basically just walking around in an infinite empty office-space hallways with buzzing fluorescent lights, stain-filled carpets, & hideous mustard-yellow infinite walls with varying grotesque patterns. You may hear a sound if you walk long enough. Like I said, I don't really get it. Anyways, I tested this out on the Beta Branch just released today on April 4, 2022. I can report it works perfectly fine on the Meta Quest 2 with link cable. You now have full locomotion and snap turning available, you can choose degree of turn. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. I di...
10 minutes... 10 minutes was all I could muster... 10 minutes felt a lot longer than it actually was... 10 minutes in those rooms... I swore I heard knocking but was it actually there? Who was behind me just out of sight? Why did it feel like there was something there just out of sight?
how did the game fuck up this badly. the entire point of the backrooms is to walk around aimlessly until you go insane and die. and they somehow couldn't get that right. the normal game is what i expected (if a bit boring) but the VR version was miserable. there was no walk feature. only teleport. IN THE BACKROOMS YOU WALK. YOU DON'T TELEPORT. the game is what you would expect, you walk around aimlessly and you don't encounter any entities (which maybe they could add?) and then you eventually get bored and leave. 4/10 game. add walking to the vr version.
Thank you Kanye, very cool!
