'Sherlock Holmes versus Jack The Ripper' is one of the best, if not the best, of all the five Sherlock Holmes games I've played so far. Yet, it's plot is also the most complicated and torturous out of them all. The game is set in late 19th century London, and as usual Holmes tries to solve an unsolvable murder mystery involving grizzly murders of women. He ingeniously uncovers seemingly absent clues and makes logical deductions about the murderer from them, and finally finds the murderer. What I really liked about this game is the brain exercise one gets by solving some brilliantly crafted puzzles. For the most part, they are very difficult to solve and one will need to study them very astutely to put the pieces together. Equally challenging is the search for missing objects and clues that one needs in order to advance in the game. The graphics are rather dated, since the game is 16 years old, but they are decent nonetheless. The music is mostly classical, yet sublime. The plot invol...

One of Frogwares earlier titles, but it still holds up today. Even though it is a bit fantastical to have the fictitious Holmes investigate a real-life serial murderer, it makes for some great detective fiction. The writing and deduction work are stellar, and you will get a lot of enjoyment out of this mystery!

I tried to play this game and my god that game is boring and I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, but this game was SO boring to even start. The VA is bad. The controls are meh at best. 3rd person mode is point to click, the camera controls are set WAY too high to start with. I want to comment on the graphics but I also remember that a lot of games during this time still relied on the deadpan look of faces. At this point I'd rather it be a point to click game with lite animation. Also, how do you mess up what Sherlock Holmes looks like? Watson is normally portrayed as a fat guy you can barely understand that mumbles when it talks. There was already like 5 other people who could VA for Holmes yet you picked some random English guy. This is why there hasn't ever been a good Sherlock Holmes games. I get that this was a game in 2009 but even then it was bit better than that. GTA Vice City was better and it came out in 2002. Games that came out that are better than this by far: Assassin's...

Great game. I hope they remake it. It is one of the best Sherlock Holmes games out there. The overall world feeling made me a little scared. I remember as a kid thinking Jack the Ripper was in my house and going to tap my shoulder at any minute. I will say that some of the later puzzles are frustrating and too difficult without a guide because they don't really give enough information needed to figure them out or the information is well hidden within text. Puzzle Spoilers: the civil war puzzle. Literally no hints at all in the game. You are expected to have major Civil War brain knowledge which is insane to me. The Jewish safe puzzle was also a little stupid. The click and drag puzzle was almost impossible for me on Steam Deck, but shouldn't be if I had a mouse which I don't right now. The built in mouse will get stuck. Other than that, it is a great experience. REAL SPOILERS WARNING: The only thing I don't like is who they say Jack the Ripper was because I disagree with it. I think ...

It's been many years since I played this game but it definitely stuck with me. Talk about a gritty reboot, holy crap (can I swear in Steam reviews?) Be ready for some serious graphic depiction of gore and just general human-made horror. I'm sure the graphics would look goofy now but it was a striking game simply in that the intense content was unexpected. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was too busy believing in fairies to get this brutal with Sherlock Holmes but now you get to find out what it would be like if Holmes didn't just solve puzzles but got to look at the innards of women. Dude. But it's worth playing. I can't believe they're still charging for it at all. It's nothing spectacular and it was 2009. I was...24. Jesus. Time flies.
