This game is a real gem - original, polished and tons of fun. WHAT I LOVED: - Hardcore gameplay mixing platformer, role-playing and puzzle features in a good proportion. Keeping all the inventory and skills when respawning is the right choice, too. - Colourful sci-fi world with nice animations. How much detail and ambience the developer conveys just using keyboard symbols is mind-blowing. - Nice characters and dialogue. The fact that the developer actually wrote a sci-fi novel about this world does help the game :) - A lot of easter eggs and humour. - Very nice music that fits the world like a glove. - Minigames, which you can play on computer terminals inside the main game and earn a few pi-astres! - Brought back fond childhood memories of Commander Keen and The Lost Vikings (if those ring a bell for anyone...) WHERE I HESITATED: - Mining resources can feel a bit tedious at first, but gets much more comfortable as soon as you craft the right tools. - Slow regeneration of health alm...

About This Game
STORY
The story of the game is based on sci-fi novel "Frango Anomaly". The hero is a human clone who escaped from space pirates. The first location is asteroid FA-17, colonized a couple of millennia ago. The mining of crystals is still ongoing, but... right now crystals are dropping in price. If it weren't for the convenient location for the transshipment base, the asteroid would have been abandoned long ago. However, entire areas of the asteroid have already been abandoned. Life here moves at its own pace and by its own rules.STYLE
Absolutely all the graphics in the game are made using the characters that could be typed on the keyboard. To be more precise, the characters from the ASCII table from the 32nd to the 126th character are used. The texts in the game are localized in several languages and may contain characters, not from the authentic range. However, these characters are not involved in the design. Graphics are ASCII only.
LOCATIONS
The location "Asteroid FA-17", in which the spaceport is located, is currently under development. It will be possible to move to neighboring planets and stations from the spaceport. You can move to another location at any time if you will have the necessary resources and skills.BOSSES AND NPC
The game has a large number of neutral and hostile creatures. Neutral characters can provide information, upgrade skills, and craft items.Caution, some neutral characters can become hostile.
SKILLS
One of the advantages of clones is that they can be trained in various skills almost instantly. This requires a neuroprogrammer. This is a device that can change the structure of brain neurons. Also, a person or other creature with the appropriate skill is needed. In the current version of the game, the following skills are available:- Life force
- Inventory space
- Radiation resistance
- Holding breath
- Melee weaponry
- Thrown weaponry
- Plasma weaponry
- Piloting
- Hyperspace
- Navigation
- Hand-to-hand combat
BUILT-IN GAMES
The game world contains computer terminals with built-in games. Each game can bring the player an in-game currency.COLOR MODES AND FONT
You can choose one of eight retro color modes in the game options: True Color, three monochrome modes, 16-color mode (DOS / Mac), 2-bit and Game Boy mode. Also LED font mode is available in options. In this mode, each pixel of each character is separated from neighboring ones.
CURRENT STATE OF THE PROJECT
This is the current state of the game, which I update often. Added a new item / resource - updated. A new boss appeared in a new location - updated. New music, new game modes, etc. About two hours of gameplay are available in the location "Asteroid FA-17" now.Screenshots
User Reviews
Seriously enjoyed the game but I was shocked I paid 10 dollars for a demo. you will get 2 hrs max out of this I played around and goofed off I am not going to refund I just hope it gets finished. I don't want to leave a negative review but I hope people see this isn't a feature complete game. Edit: Development for this game has been stale for 3 years. I would not buy it unless you want a demo.
Early Access review here, version 0.6.14. This is an ASCII-based Metroidvania game with RPG elements and emphasis on repeated character death. The graphics are very well done for ASCII, and while the "True Color" option is the most engaging, there are plenty of graphics options to make it seem even more old-school. The music is a decent 16-bit tune that manages to not be annoying even after a thousand loops. As it stands right now, it's a relatively short game with way too many lives and one main flaw: resource management needs some hints and balance. It isn't obvious that you can get reprogrammers from one tower but not the other tower, or that resources are scarce enough that you'll need to make careful decisions. The game pushes you toward making purchases you'll regret when you're unable to get items you actually need later on, which is interesting, but annoying (I was unable to get the flashlight, the sword, or even the inventory upgrade—and that last one is super-annoying not...
This is one of those times where I wish there was an option for a neutral review. I can see ambition in this game, also a number of things which could and should be improved upon. I've never been a fan of minecraft type games and while you do have a clone machine with 99 lives, you're going to lose health by mining anything with your hands and you won't know which things are insta-kill until you get hit. I understand the physics involved, but it means you're going back to a healing fire (again) and waiting another minute to recover full health. From what I understand, you can reach the end of the demo quickly and it's early access. $7.99 or $9.99 seems way too much for what content you do currently get. Until this get released as a full, complete game rather than a demo, I'd say it's worth about a dollar or two at most. Paying for a demo does not sit well with me. Sorry dev, hopefully one day steam will offer a neutral option for reviews. This software has potential if there is a lot...
The look is super unique. The game mechanics are well thought-out. Even a couple of mini games. The pacing throughout the level feels good. Can't wait to play more. Give us an MMO!
This game is really charming. You can see the passion of the creator in the environment and music of the game. I can't wait for a new update.
This game is "out of early access" but that's misleading. It's still only a demo, and given the lack of updates, will likely remain that for the foreseeable future. The concept is good, but it's VERY unfinished. Remember, you're paying for a demo, nothing more.
A gem of a game. One of the most fun games I have played in a long time - and yet it hasn't been updated in 4 years. Not even a status update. For that reason, I simply cannot recommend this game, unless you want to waste your money on a single-stage demo. DO NOT buy this game.
Still (end of 2023) demo with 2.5h gameplay. Unfortunately.
I absolutely love the concept, story, effects, overall just the whole game is addicting. if your into the unique and need a break from adrenaline types of games from time to time, you can find yourself playing this for hours. The longer i played, the more curious i got from the map, crafts, and the creative animations. Craving to play much more and hoping to see this game go further. Brings back the concept of how much imagination you can pack into a simple concept. Keep up the good work and Thank you!
