Interesting story, beautiful graphics, and a game type that I enjoy. Unfortunately, the micromanagement is beyond ludicrous. Why is my raw iron sitting in the docking bay because I don't have storage for it? Oh, my storage is full of it. But my steel mill which processes the iron in the other sector is desperately crying out for more iron. But I turned on exports between sectors, I said all sectors should export anything and everything needed to any other sector. People are rioting in another sector because they don't have any food, but the sector next door has so much food they can't store all of it. But they won't export it to the other sector. I build drones to transport it, but that doesn't solve it. Just. That isn't fun. So many game designers forget that while yes, it's important to build challenges for players, the challenges need to be fun. This game is not fun.

About the Game
With Earth on the brink of ecosystemic collapse, DOLOS A.E.C. leads efforts to find a new home for the human race. Whether by chance or fate, its prototype space station, the Tiqqun, finds itself cast adrift, a disintegrating ark upon which the remnants of humanity must find sanctuary – and you, Administrator, are at its helm.
IXION is a city-builder that requires you to be vigilant, to constantly assess and reassess, to learn and adapt. If you and your crew are to endure, you must confront the perils of space, while at the same time uncovering its secrets and extracting its resources. Danger, however, will come from within as well as without; you’ll need to establish, maintain and develop the Tiqqun’s infrastructure while managing the station’s population, deciding how best to answer their pleas so as to maintain their trust in you and the mission.
There are no simple solutions; your actions will have repercussions, now or further down the line. How you deal with those repercussions will be the difference between survival and extinction.
A population to manage, survivors to find, cryopods to recover... Maintain your crew's trust in the corporation that started this venture, or face failure and mutiny. Six sectors can be unlocked within the station, each able to house more population, support new jobs, and provide opportunity to monitor the crew with the Data Listening System. Will you bring hope to the people?
Who said DOLOS was the only faction to escape the fate of the Earth? Brush up against other pockets of survivors, navigate on from the failures and wrecks of others… IXION will lead the player through gripping chapters of story, where new threats and opportunities are presented, all in aid of reaching the final destination, a new home.
DOLOS are famed for their innovative technology, their scientists, but the Tiqqun now finds itself cut off. Find what resources you can, research what you do not have. Find new ways to provide for your settlement, construct new buildings to create what’s needed. Modify the Tiqqun station, improve it, forge ahead in this odyssey.
Space is a dangerous place. Hull breaches, overloaded power supplies, electrical fires... It is up to you to manage these risks, deal with emergencies, create backup power solutions, and enable Extra Vehicular Activity…
There are whole new stellar maps to explore. Send out probes to reveal what’s hidden, create mining and cargo ships to find resources, commission science expeditions to discover the secrets and threats you’ll find out there in space. Encounter other survivors and bring them into the fold of your mission, objective - survive.

Absurdly difficult. Beautiful graphics and sound, but just not worth it, there is no QoL, it is the "souls like" of fake 4x. It is severely punishing for basically being a choose your own adventure story.
Score: 8/10 Ixion proved to be a thoroughly engaging and memorable experience. While it may not be flawless in the eyes of every player, it hit all the right notes for me. I was quickly drawn into its compelling narrative and found genuine enjoyment in the strategic challenges that emerged (particularly during the climactic final stages). As my first foray into the RTS genre, Ixion set an exceptionally high standard. First impressions are crucial when exploring a new style of gameplay, and this title left me eager to experience more RTS games of similar quality. The storytelling was impactful and well paced, though I would have welcomed a longer narrative arc. One of the few frustrations I encountered was with resource transportation, as materials didn’t always move according to assigned parameters, occasionally requiring manual intervention within the resource management system. While these moments could be disruptive, they did not diminish the overall enjoyment and depth of the g...
Ixion is in the same league as Frostpunk in terms of punishing survival city builders, and while it doesn't reach quite the same level of polish and overall quality, it's not far behind - and I actually like the setting much better. The main complaint I'm seeing from people is that it's too difficult, and I really disagree. It's punishing, and unless you look up a guide setbacks are inevitable, but outright losing is unlikely if you're not a smoothbrain and you actually pay attention and plan ahead. Overall great game.
The economy is very well designed. It's like Frostpunk 1 with a less developed plot but better gameplay.
I want to share my opinion about IXION. I played this game twice - first outside of Steam, and then I bought it on Steam and finished it again just recently. Everything about this game is great - I like the story, the atmosphere that the developers managed to convey so well, the amazing soundtrack, and the well-balanced gameplay that doesnt feel oppressive and really lets you enjoy the experience. There are very few games that give me emotions like this, and IXION is one of them! I think Ill definitely replay it a few more times.
I wonder if we will see anything else for this game? I enjoyed it.
Frostpunk meets Interstellar and 2001 Space Odyssey. Great game, pretty hard. Loved it. There are a few mods if you want to make the game easier.
I enjoyed the hell out of it. The story is the amazing. The game play is super fun, and every decision is so important. When you screw up(or something happens you don't want), you go.... ah I did the wrong thing 2 hours ago. It's just like managing real people.
very fun
