About This Game

Mortal Shell is a deep action-RPG that tests your sanity and resilience in a shattered world. As the remains of humanity wither and rot, zealous foes fester in the ruins. They spare no mercy, with survival demanding superior awareness, precision and instincts. Track down hidden sanctums of devout followers and discover your true purpose.

The dead litter this tattered landscape, but not all are without hope. The lost remains of defeated warriors are yours to discover. Awaken these Mortal Shells, occupy their bodies and significantly open your understanding to diverse masteries of combat.

Your path is guarded by desperate adversaries, devoted to inscrutable gods. Behold creatures both pitiable and grotesque, but do not let fear halt your journey. Muster your courage and face them down.

Combat is strategic and deliberate. You must commit your sword only when an opportunity opens. Calculate your parries to unleash devastating counterblows. Temporarily entomb your Mortal Shell in stone to block attacks, or play aggressive and use your stone-form to add brutal weight to your own sword swings.

Mortal Shell offers a dark, atmospheric Souls-like experience with its unique “shell” mechanic and weighty combat. While its world feels immersive, the confusing map design, short length, and occasional jank keep it from reaching its full potential—making it a solid but just okay adventure. Note: I only recommend this game for the people who have finished most of the souls like and just want more however if you are new to the genre just skip it for now, and try other souls like .

Don't waste your time playing this super garbage. Thought I want to do it before Mortal Shell 2, but it's NOT worth it. Just wait for the second title. 0/10 :D

Don't be fooled. I read somewhere how this studio created a "short, simple version of a souls game" yeah chum good luck with that. if you've ever played dark souls and elden ring just forget about everything. combat feels solid. even the foot steps and every swing of your sword feels like you're actually putting your own energy into it, even on mouse and keyboard. this game will suck you in. and there are cats in it. who TF would want to ask for more? AAAAAA+++++***********

Who that keeps making these souls clones decided that giving non-boss enemies ten times the health they have in Fromsoftware games was a good idea? Hint, it's not. It makes for EXTREMELY repetitive gameplay. There's a reason bullet sponges are a meme. Most of these types of games have a problem where the camera moves too fast when locked on creating a nauseating experience. This game went way too far in the opposite direction: the camera does not properly track the player often resulting in the player being able to walk off camera or walk so far to the edge of what's on screen that it creates an incredibly jarring and unplayable experience. I will try again later but as of right now, I am too angry to want to give this game another chance as the fundamentals are too profoundly wrong.

Solid 3/10: Theres barely anything redeemable about the game This is one of, if not the worst, Souls like I have played in my life. This game doesnt feel like it was tested or examined by people other than the devs. Do no waste your time on it, I have died to jank more often than my own lack of skill. The enemy placement is not clever, it is annoying, Dark Souls 2 SOTFS levels of annoying. The bosses are uninspired, or worse, buggy, I have been killed MULTIPLE times by lingering hitboxes after an attack has clearly, visibly and obviously stopped. Theres is no level ups or character builds, you simply unlocks "Abilities" for your current armor that has a probability of procing. This game is nothing like a fair Souls Like game, This game is either untested, unfinished or the developpers are incompetent

This is just.. so bad. Cold Symmetry wanted to make a souls-like while clearly only reading on paper what it is that makes games "souls-like"

first few hours is frustrating due to you're weak (more than other games) . but at some point there is no challenge. you keep forward with killing anything that moves easily. shell mechanic was a good idea. hardening is also good idea but it's like godmode . you can become invincible every 5 second. (1 big or 2 small damage) it's very op. main area and Northax is very complicated. It was a patient test. I hated. weak bosses some upgrades and items are not effective. i saw Mortal Shell 2 trailer and it looks interesting so i'll give positive review for support.

Not bad, but could have been better. I'm completely open-minded towards "souls-like" games and the Mortal Shell is a decent game, it has some flaws here and there, but it's still a solid game. I liked the setting, the atmosphere and the combat system. Although the lore of this game is really weird and completely alien to me. The strongest sides of this game are combat system and gameplay in general - it's really good and enjoyable. Characters design is also good. I also enjoyed playing the lute, it's a simple but cool feature. You have 4 playable characters/shells (Tiel is my favorite character, he is rogue with very low hp, but he is very agile, I like that) and 4 weapon types (+ bonus weapon, a hand ballista or something like that) at your disposal, you will unlock all of these as you progress through the story. The game world is divided into 3 different regions each with its own boss fight. The final, 4th boss, was very predictable and really weird looking creature. There are also...

You know what they say, when life gets hard... You just gotta get harder. If you like getting hard figuratively and more importantly physically I whole-heartedly recommend this game. This game isnt perfect by no stretch of the imagination, but theres something oddly unique and poetic about this game. The world is unforgiving and at times very unforgiving as if it hates you, which reminded me of when I first played Dark souls where it felt the world was out to get you. It feels like that just smaller and more compact in a way. Bad first: Map is confusing more so than dark souls and other souls likes even for how small the game is. Bosses are lack luster you kind of figure out how to fight them in a few tries. Good: World is great and unforgiving, exploring is still confusing but oddly fun and interesting as you can find some of the things that make this game unique if you are willing to go the extra mile. Shells and weapons are fun to play with even though there...
