About This Game

Solve Puzzles

Use your color changing staff to solve challenging puzzles. Carry the lessons you learn from each puzzle throughout the game.

Explore The World

Unlock new areas of the hub world and gain access to new puzzle mechanics! You'll learn to use the color changers, teleporters, circuits and more.

Chat With Locals

Some inhabitants want to help you solve the puzzles! Some would rather you left the puzzles alone.

Undo Your Mistakes, Control Time

You can undo any mistake with the press of a button, and you can rewind, pause, or fast-forward time to suit your needs. Way of Rhea has hard puzzles, but forgiving mechanics--no combat or platforming challenges here.

End Game

The difficulty builds over time. Use everything you've learned to beat the challenging end game!

Play On Steam Deck!

I test every build on Steam Deck!

Aspect Ratios

The game is currently letter-boxed on non 16:9 aspect ratio monitors. It's tricky to get this right for a 2D game--if we just allow arbitrary aspect ratios, then the camera will point outside the level bounds, or reveal secrets or puzzle elements you're not supposed to see yet.

I'm not super happy about that. If the game does well enough I may be able to create a patch down the line where I do a pass over each puzzle and make custom camera frames for a few more common aspect ratios, but I can't make any promises right now!

Full disclosure: I am the developer's girlfriend. It would be pretty impossible for me to write an unbiased review, so here is a biased one instead. (I did pay for the game myself, and he has no idea what's gonna be in my review.) I first heard about Way of Rhea directly from the developer at a local game dev event. Even though I was not a big puzzle game person at the time, I took it upon myself to play the demo in full, because I was ridiculously attracted to the aforementioned developer. Now, I'll never know for sure whether the game had anything to do with it for not, but ever since then, I've become more and more attracted to the developer with each passing day. I was one of the beta testers, so I have played the full game. I think my playtime came out to around 8-9 hours. It took me about a week to actually finish though, as the later puzzles get so complicated that I found myself having to put the game down to give myself extra time to think. There were a handful of puzzles w...

A really cute and smartly done puzzle sidescroller where we explore a forest of color puzzles while trying to help a friend recover their lost bike. I definitely recommend WoR to anyone who enjoy puzzlers. I found the puzzles fun to solve and really well designed. Especially the later puzzles that require a good brainstorming. Those are the kind of puzzles we can actually think about and solve while not playing the game when we are stuck. LoL I liked that there was no jumping in the game. The game was pretty casual to play with zero stress as we can take all the time we want to figure out the puzzles. We can fall down and use elevators or teleporters to navigate. A very handy rewind key allows us to step back in time if we made any mistakes, or we can just use the reset key to move back to the last checkpoint. The soundtrack was fun to listen to. There even is an in-game jukebox where we can switch between tunes. And I just love the game world unique art style and its quirky chara...

I love puzzle games, but so often they miss the mark. Either being too short or insubstantial, having unsatisfying pacing and unpleasant difficulty spikes, or just badly designed. This is not one of those games. It has everything a puzzle gamer wants and hopes for. A nice satisfying learning curve, challenging puzzles that bring all the skills you've learned together, and secrets to find. I thoroughly enjoyed the beta, and it was nice seeing it shape up into something really special. Not everyone enjoys slow paced thoughtful puzzle games like this, but if you do, this is definitely one you should experience. At the price it's an absolute steal too, which is nice!

Having followed the progress of this game for years, I'm glad it is finally out and I can enjoy the finished product. This is a delightful and whimsical puzzle-platformer. The art is engaging and lovely, the dialogue cheerful and funny, and the characters are adorable. It is a lovely landscape upon which one embarks on a mind-reprogramming puzzle journey. The puzzles are devilishly difficult, but not impossible (yet - I've finished the demos and I foresee many, many days of working my way down this puzzle path). I like the mechanics, wherein one can Q roll back moves and try again (and again, and again) or just R rage quit the level and try again later after a bowl of ice cream.

A wonderful puzzle game with satisfying puzzles that increase in difficult and complexity at a perfect rate. Some of the most clever puzzles I've encountered in a game, with the ways you reuse mechanics in novel ways. The music is banging as well. Also, F the Professor!

The most fun puzzle game to PLAY I've tried in ages. Most puzzle games plod about but this one is so snappy and fun. The music is top tier too. Serious props to Mason for this awesome game and Colin for this awesome music. Can't recommend any higher.

Ryan Reynolds voice acting really sold it. His character doesn't show up until like 2 hours in during the boss battle but it was so worth it. I laughed so hard. Like overall the game is pretty good. It has some cute character art, and fun puzzles, I really hate the animation on the doors but otherwise pretty good. Oh and the first level has a pretty tough learning curve. But then the surprise cameo really took me off-guard not sure why there's nothing in the credits or description about it. But Ryan Reynolds killed it I could not stop laughing. I guess maybe it's like a marketing thing? Wtver. Anyway overall good puzzles, nice art, and incredible voice acting. 7/10 would play again.

Way of Rhea is a charming puzzle game (with great music and visuals) that has easy to understand mechanics such as switches, doors, and teleporters (as well as some other surprises I won't spoil.) Even though you may have seen these ingredients in many other games, the levels here use them to create clever moments and wonderful puzzles. I definitely recommend it.
