About This Game

Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood’s Golden Age, LAPD detective Cole Phelps is thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success. Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what’s right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies, and brutal murders, battling the L.A. underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core.

Solve brutal crimes, plots, and conspiracies inspired by real crimes from 1947 Los Angeles, one of the most corrupt and violent times in L.A. history, as you attempt to find the truth in a city where everyone has something to hide.

Utilizing revolutionary facial animation technology that captures every nuance of an actor’s facial performance in astonishing detail, L.A. Noire blends breathtaking action with true detective work for an unprecedented interactive experience.

Rockstar added their terrible launcher retrospectively at some point and now I can't play a game I've owned for years.

I'm not buying ANYTHING from Rockstar games cause my steam account is permanently and irreparably linked to a old Rockstar account. If i try to launch a game bought on steam it will ask me to recover my childhood Rockstar account i lost 15 years ago and won't let me play a game i own in the only platform i care about, Steam. I tried with Steam support, but they can't unlink them because it's up to Rockstar, but Rockstar wants me to access the 15 year old email simply to perform a disconnection from my Steam account which obviously I can prove to be in my possession. I'm going to laugh when people will be buying GTA 6 on Steam and will have to refund it because he can't play it.

Another masterpiece from rockstar. Cole Phelps is a goated MC. The only "negative" about this game is that it's unbelievably obvious when suspects are lying. Just watch them for 2 seconds and you'll know. Really wish they made another game like this, it's incredibly satisfying to put 2 & 2 together to solve a case or get a new lead or even just get new information. Underrated era/setting, we need more games set in post-WW2 LA. Fuck Roy Earle, all my homies hate Roy Earle. An absolute must play at some point in your life.

To be brutally honest, this game as a pc port is terribly optimized and created for pc. I have a decent Ryzen 7 system. The game runs well at 60 fps, however there are alot of bugs and issues with the game. The issues being: 1) Random Crashes especially during or near a cut scene, 2) poor rendering delays, 3) NPC Ai traffic is bad, its like how in gta online when the npc purposely drives into you but in LA noire its worse and finally 4)bad lighting in the game. Overall the story and concept of the game is good, one of the best Rockstar Studios has made but I would not recommend this pc version to anyone, rather buy the console version as that one does not have any bugs or issues. Fortunately I purchased this on sale, I feel bad for anyone that bought this game at full price. Oh yes I almost completely forgot to mention this game requires the rockstar launcher be running fully online and a rockstar account to work, so don't lose your rockstar account or else you can't play this game.
Narrative & Game Play
This is a product of Rockstar's golden era - back when they made more than 1 game per decade. The story is quite mature, holding no punches in dialogue or graphic detail. It's realistic, yet there is still much Hollywoodized action and a protagonist we can root for. Looking for clues, interrogating people, and piecing together your own theories is a lot of fun. Although Rockstar said they used some state-of-the-art face modeling at the time, to me, they look plastic-y and a little too low detail for the whole "read their body language" thing to work well. This could be a personal flaw on me as well - your mileage may vary. Additionally, the dialogue choices are not fully written out or given descriptions, instead you're given a single word to describe what you want to do. This can lead to you choosing something that is far more aggressive than intended. Really, the choice simplification is almost as bad as Fallout 4, and it would have been more im...

Rockstar launcher required. Spent too long trying to find a work around and eventually uninstalled the steam version to play it another way.

A masterpiece story wise, Rockstar knocked it out of the park with the attention to detail especially for the time. The interrogation segments are to hard understand at first but soon you start understanding when and where to call your doubts and accuse of lies. Only complaint from me is that the driving parts going to and from places in the open world are boring but you can skip that and cut straight to the action. A would buy from any person who loves a good story.
