Missing some documentation on what tools do or how to use them. -UPDATE- Developer has been working hard to improve app and is doing great. They are really behind their product.

About This Game
One liner about NEXT release: SpriteStack is a 3D animator/editor that combines voxels, lowpoly and sprites to make 2D game assets in form of spritesheets.
Do not worry to get current version of SpriteStack - it's the one that will get updated with all the new features you can read about there . After the update the price will go up so it's the best moment to get it - also it helps me to focus on SpriteStack instead of looking for funds.
-- Old (current) version description --
SpriteStack is a 3d pixelart editor based on sprite stacking technique. It's a special kind of voxel editor suited for 2D artists where the model is drawn layer by layer like a pixelart. Featuring handcrafted retro renderer and experimental animation support.
Examples
Editor
Each model is made of 2D slices that create a 3D volume when put on top of each other.
Animator
Animation support is experimental but it can already yeld nice results.
Exporter
Top notch exporter featuring unique low resolution renderer stylized to look like pixelart. It can output 2D spritesheets, slices for spritestacking or .vox models that can be later converted to many popular 3D formats.
MagicaVoxel support
Thanks to two-way MagicaVoxel integration you are not bound to use the spritestacking editor. You can also render your existing .vox models in my retro rendering engine or get your spritestacks converted to formats like OBJ.

i like the tool but ive looked everywhere and cannot find up to date documentation theres a bunch of hotkeys ive pressed without realizing, causing the application to seemingly brick (putting it into a state i cannot get out of because i dont know what hotkey i fatfingered) the help button in the tool just sends you to the programs site, asking you to buy it, finding the help page by GOOGLING showed hotkeys that are no longer in the tool as they are seemingly from an earlier version of the editor right now its not functional unless you made the tool, its neat to play around with but not worth it if you want to actually make things with it to dev: write some proper documentation, maybe make a video showing off features, hell even a .txt file with hotkeys would be enough.
Abandoned by the dev without finishing, doesn't export .vox, removed 3D view, never updated and buttons don't work. Crashes and has many issues
I bought this because it can export vox files. But I can't export the .vox files when i hit the vox button. So I'm wondering how could I export the vox files ?
Its a shame, Spritestack clicked with me a lot. I found its user-interface really easy to understand and leverage. It has the ability to do color palette-swapping really easy, and its 3D preview window helps you build your sprites. I never tried to do animation just yet, but it doesn't seem too bad in its current form. Can't really recommend even though I want to. At this time it appears to be abandonware with some critical issues that haven't been solved. + .vox export was working at some point, now it doesn't. + Import slicesheet has chance to overwrite your existing file - really bad because it WILL wipe out all your work. + Inability to merge 2 spritestack .zip files. + Importing slicesheet is bugged. + Exporting sprites with shadow creates offset sprite. + Can't select vertical stacks of pixels. For these reasons, it's not really worth a buy at this time. Examples to bolster my perspective, I made the following: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=228345...
I know next to nothing about 3D modelling and within 40 minutes of using this I'm already in love A few suggestions - More export options (more angles, free look like in the preview, higher framerate gifs) - Transparent pixels/blocks if that's even possible - More official documentation
it's looked promising, but as i see it's abandoned, so many functionalities dont work and drawing its much more difficult than it should be
Very high potential, but abandoned soft with missing core features... should have a lot more of QoL enhancements.
The software has potential, but currently doesn't seem to be able to export the 3d model. There's a button to export to .vox format, but it doesn't work.
Exporting to .vox doesn't work.
