About This Game

Fireproof Games continue their award winning game series, The Room, with The Room VR: A Dark Matter.

The British Institute of Archaeology, London, 1908: The disappearance of an esteemed Egyptologist prompts a Police investigation into the unknown. Explore cryptic locations, examine fantastic gadgets and uncover an otherworldly discovery which blurs the line between reality and illusion. Designed from the ground up for the unique capabilities of virtual reality, players can inhabit the spine-tingling world of The Room and interact with its strange contraptions in this compelling new chapter.

Fireproof Games are a small independent team working in Guildford in the UK. We self-published our first game The Room on iPad in September 2012 and were stunned with both the critical success and our new-found fan-base, not to mention multiple international awards. The Room games have since changed our lives and we hope you enjoy our Virtual Reality take on the series.

I liked this game so much! Awesome experience! Magic, mysticism, mystery and realistic visuals. Atmosphere is great! I love VR for the opportunity to visit places that are not possible in real life. Too bad it is not possible to roam free. But still, it is beautiful! My special thanks for the opportunity to become small and experience the feeling of Alice in Wonderland (become small).

Like many other reviews, this game is also the first for me in the VR escape room genre. I really enjoyed it (great atmosphere) and I dont have much normal "escape room" experience (in real life or digital games). I enjoyed the first 3 levels (museum, chapel and cottage) but the last 2 levels were really rushed! You cannot really call them levels (one basically was follow and click a couple of buttons and the other was walking simulator)! The story was weak and I really didnt get what was happening! I realize the story is just a reason to go from room to room but it just didnt feel clear or important. TL:DR It is a good VR escape room game with some really nice atmosphere!

I don't like how they made this game boring and have repetitive tasks.

Great choice as a first VR gaming experience. Personally, as a VR veteran, as soon as I saw there's no smooth walking movement, only teleportation, it kinda turned me off but after I started solving the puzzles (which are absolutely great by the way) I realised it's not a flaw but a design, kind of a safeguard so you wouldn't get too lost. As I said, the puzzles are fantastic! what I liked the most is that most of them actually make sense and you can see the actual mechanism of how they work. Didn't really follow the story tho (sorry devs..) but from the little that I did gather, I know there's a really interesting storyline to it. Visuals are great, physics are great, atmosphere is eerie and immersive, even just standing in a closed museum was pretty spooky for me, could use some more music imo. And weirdly this is the first time I see on launch an option to launch the game in Steam VR mode or in Oculus VR mode which is interesting. Overall - awesome game, money well spent, would to...

First VR experience personally, familiar feeling puzzles with good simulation of physical interaction; polished.

If you like VR and this series, then this is a given really. I liked it more than The Room 4 actually. It starts off a bit mid, but the later levels are really imaginative and well worth your time.

Outstanding. Just great VR puzzle fun. Creative and well done. One nitpick, hard to grab items in inventory.

The worst room game. Fun, but puzzle are kinda too simple.
