About the Game

Do you enjoy a good mix of tactical elements, adventure, and stealth, all tightly packed into a dark, fascinating story? We felt it was a rhetorical question, so that’s the experience we’ve crafted ;)

Try different tactics in each mission. Distract the enemies or drop parts of destroyed buildings on their heads. The interactive environment opens up many tactical options for you to explore.

Have you been spotted? Draw your weapon and try to shoot your way out!

Join forces with a friend (PC) and build your team of mongrels as you play! Each character has their own personality, background, and skills to use during the journey.

The control is overly complicated compared to other Commandos-like games. Too much actions, too much keys to control. It feels awkward to use the keyboard (for the actions) and mouse (for movement and camera) at the same time. The graphic is good though. Also optimization is great, save/load system works almost instantly. Have no comments regarding the story as I dropped the game after 1hr of playing.

Buggy and difficult controls. In Chapter 2, after blowing up the bridge, the game sends in a wave of like 20 soldiers all in a row, impossible to take down more than a few. I've watched videos of this same part, and there are only a handful of soldiers in the wave. Earlier, when I first took the machine gun nest, no one could see me. They just ran around like chickens with their heads cut off. So, between the bugs and the janky controls, I'm out. Too bad, as it had possibilities.

The controls might not be the most responsive, but the game looks good and has a unique - for an isometric stealth game - take on action. It features "combat mode" which lets players control characters as they would in a twin-stick shooter, albeit a rather primitive one. Nevertheless, unless you find it really enjoyable, it is probably best not to rely on it too much because enemies aren't really equipped to deal with it without ruining the atmosphere. Although they will sound alarms, it doesn't really matter - guards within earshot will run to investigate a disturbance, but will eventually calm down and go back to their posts (unless you gun them all down from a bush). The game is going for a really serious, somber tone, it does not even feature knock-outs or tying unconscious guards with rope. Every victim has to be killed, so no pacifist run is possible here. Presumably for story reasons the game does not really give much freedom in choosing one's approach; explosives, for instance,...

I quite liked War Mongrels, if you like the Shadow Tactics/Desperados/Commandos type games, you may like this if you don't mind WWII themes. Many good qualities. Very expansive levels with good variety of tasks, a little more forgiving than 63 Days. Runs smooth on an rtx 3060 at Ultra quality, very nice graphics. So much potential for other games to be made from different historical time periods / futuristic and would like to see some stealth game (Styx, Splinter Cell, Thief, Deus Ex etc) approaches to some of these types of games utilising many more features included in level design but in RTT/RTS format. Along with 63 Days, hopefully more to come from DC.

This game is totally sick. Another pure Co-Op masterpiece from the demented masters of Destructive Creations. Too bad all my friends are effin re-toreded and won't buy this so we can play co-op. Not trying to be mean but it is a pretty HIGH price -> however that's what makes collecting games fun, nab this next time it is onsale! It has been for -83% off in the past so hang in there Mongrel there is room in your library for this chug nugget. HMU if you got it and want to play. Yeah I think I want to help them with some Voice Acting.

The game was fun to play, lots of the designs I found them very disturbing and a pretty grotesque representation of what WWII looked like, so in that regard it was pleasant to see a well dedicated design effort. On the other hand I noticed some "silly" behavior of the enemy characters when trying to kill me but in general I liked the game.

another piece of historic revisionism that tries to show off nazi elements and Polish Home Army allied to the Polish government-in-exile in London, British puppet government, as something worth talking about during WW2. Complete disregard for the key role of red army as liberators of Poland. Smears red army with some imaginary crimes. The whole game seems like neo fascist propaganda to me. On the gameplay side playing this after excellent Mimimi games is offensive. bought this for close to no money and I feel like I've paid too much. If I could I would get a refund.

A great Commando's type of game. Goof maps, music and atmosphere. Note: I also thought the game was broken in terms of camera control but its all locked in the tutorial mission. I'm 60% done and have not encountered any significant bugs except for a typo where they stated 1941 instead of 1944 and the manual shooting mode which is not explained very well. I like the story and it plays out during Operation Bagration in 1944. In terms of difficulty, not very difficult on standard mode but you have to think and plan.
