Choose between Adventure and the new Survival Mode. Rack up the biggest score you can in 3 Mins, and top the leader-board in Survival mode, or explore your surroundings and level up as quick as possible before meeting the end of level boss in Adventure.

Twin Ruin's two core features are the dual color mechanic and beastly intensity. Fairly straightforward in mechanics and enemies, but it will send more than enough at you to keep you busy with what you can do, especially with the color system: you barely hurt things that match your color but their shots can't hurt you at all; however, any enemy touching you does damage regardless of color, so you must switch color aggressively to clear enemies before they get to you and defensively to absorb bullets. In the original adventure mode, you have a small map to search for upgrades as a battle royale style wall of death presses you to the center, where you'll have the boss fight once the level's wave assault runs its course. Even the beginning of the run starts right out highly aggressive, so expect to get killed very quickly while you get your game legs under you. Seriously, my first several runs lasted only a few minutes, and I don't mean each. There's also the added survival mo...

Not the usual type of game I go for but took a chance with this one and I'm glad I did. Really enjoying it so far

Had fun with this. Main draws for me are the polarity switching mechanic from Ikaruga (Deal more damage to enemies of opposite colour, absorb bullets of same colour, can switch between the two colours at anytime), and the shrinking arena mixed with hordes of enemies requiring you to quickly and skilfully move to the center/end of the levels. Pretty satisfying to rush through levels. Has a solid base as is, but would've liked if there was more content, got through it all fairly quickly.

It's poorly made, and should have been released on a console. There are intrusive, focus-stealing tutorial popups for very basic keypresses, but no explanation for disabling barriers or several other mechanics, making you wander around blindly from the immediate start. The game says "full controller support" on the store page. What it should really say is, "we hate keyboards and PCs passionately". Once the game has actually started, there's no way to pause it. Mashing Escape, F1, F2, facerolling, etc. does nothing, and there are no indications anywhere in the game that it even can be paused outside of tutorial popups. The "survival mode" takes this keyboard-hating design and turns it to 11. I finished a survival run and was left stuck at the summary screen; the leaderboards are broken and unresponsive, there are no buttons anywhere to even try highlighting with the arrow or WASD keys and pressing Escape, Enter, Spacebar, etc. does nothing, and the only on-screen prompt is "press star...

This is a great concept for a twin-stick shooter, using a polarity system similar to Ikaruga to add an extra level of complexity to the gameplay. Really polished and fast paced, a must for genre fans.

Intense twin-stick rogue-like. Fast-paced, and intended for people with good twitch skills. Polarity (aka. color) is used to apply greater damage to oppositely-colored foes - and the game routinely throws both colored foes at you at the same time. You take less-or-no damage from enemy fire matching your color - but bumping into any enemy will damage you, regardless of the polarity. Killing various enemies allows you to pick up energy to improve your weapon, but the dropped energy only last a few seconds, meaning that a lot of it disappears before you can spare a thought to grab it while trying to stay alive. Still, weapon power, fire rate and number of projectiles improve as you collect energy. Absorbing same-color enemy fire is used to charge up your weapon, which allows an infrequent special attack. As you play multiple games, unlocks will reveal a few new avatars (each with slightly different stats) and arenas. Apparently, I suck at this. My attempts typically only last a...

A real challenge, but worth it. I was drawn in by the Ikaruga/Smash TV style game play and I am not disappointed. Looks gorgeous. Rock hard! A twin-stick classic - Recommended!
