Devil's Deck

This is a persistently online single-player game. Where have I heard that before. The gameplay is nice, quick and cheerful if somewhat unchallenging. However, being unable to play a single-player game because of server connection issues, my own internet sucking or whatever weird stuff the game is trying to do between turns is a massive downer. Add to the fact that it really has a go at the GPU despite some fairly basic 3d graphics and it makes me wonder if it isn't just a bitcoin miner in disguise.

Grinding the Shaman, each playthrough slowly unlocking additional cards and depth, Gameplay felt like a hybrid of Slay the Spire, Magic the Gathering, and good ol' roguelike random exploration :) So far, 1st impression? DD has cool gfx, and a clean UI. Of course, I'm looking forward to seeing more heroes and events added too, (Perhaps an endless mode in future?) Thumbs up~

When you start this game, it asks you to choose Chinese or American servers (with a ping value listed), but as far as I can tell, it's a single player game! I have no idea why this game would need to phone home to any server (also, I live in the EU), and I see no privacy statement or any statement that the game has online DRM anywhere. Be warned! (It looks like a rather nice mobile game. I searched for it on my iPad but it's surprisingly not listed in Apple's App Store.)

Changing my review because they've basically broken the whole game. All unlocks reset when you re-launch the game. It forgets your entire campaign progress, and even forgets that you've unlocked higher difficulty levels. I'm not sure how a developer can be this incompetent.

This game is dope. It has the same feeling as StS, but plays differently. I purchased it 3 days ago and have sinked many hours into this game. The only problem I run into is that I can't stop playing. Great game.

Unique system of progression and one of the better Deckbuilder experiences I've had on Steam in the last 3 years. It's quite appealing to anyone who wants a unique deck builder but also wants to experience more from a card battler than just the usual yugioh style battle system. It turns a standard card battler into something engaging and fun while also giving you achievements to work for that give you rewards for achieving them. Best of all, it provides an in game means of acquiring game currency that is used outside of merchants. Always good.

I'm about 12 hours into this on early access and I'm absolutely hooked. This game scratches that same rogue-like itch as games like Slay the Spire or Risk of Rain. But the gameplay resembles Hearthstone (sometimes too much so). I really like the concept of having to burn one of my cards to gain max mana. In a game like Hearthstone this would bug me since that card would be gone forever, but this game takes a note from other deckbuilding games by shuffling your discard back into your draw pile once it's empty. So you may burn a card once, but odds are you'll see it again once your deck is shuffled. I think that's a great mechanic and it forces you to always think a few moves in advance. I do find it odd that this connects to a server, which makes latency an issue. Games seem to last longer than they should, with short waits for the server to respond adding up over a full playthrough. This game was translated and has many typos + mistakes. The levels are a little too short for my taste. Is it fun? yeah I guess but i don't know if that will hold up over time. its kinda like a mix of slay the spire and hearthstone. I'd wait a while before getting it. maybe add it to your wishlish for a sale.
