About This Game

Summit of the Wolf is a poignant point-and-click narrative adventure presented in the visual style of graphic novels. Created by a two-person husband-and-wife indie development team, it features both fantasy and real-world segments.

STORY

After falling asleep in her warm bed one night, twelve-year-old Ophelia wakes up in an ethereal garden with no memory of how she got there. After speaking with a mysterious goddess named Adena, Ophelia sets out on a personal journey to find the fabled Summit of the Wolf, whereupon she must uncover the tragic real-world events that led to her arrival in this fantasy realm. Will Ophelia complete her quest, or will she succumb to the many dangers she must face along the way?

Meanwhile, in the real world, Ophelia lies comatose in the hospital, and a sympathetic nurse attempts to uncover the truth behind the tragic events that led to her life-threatening injury. Ophelia's parents insist that she fell down the stairs in the middle of the night...but can they be trusted, or are they hiding a dark secret?

At its core, Summit of the Wolf is a game about trauma and its psychological effect on children. Inspired by true events and written by a medical professional (and fellow survivor), Summit of the Wolf endeavors to shed light on the topic of child abuse by showcasing the emotions that are experienced by a young girl as she makes the transition from victim to survivor. While the game does not shy away from the darkness of the topic, the tone is ultimately positive and, hopefully, both inspiring and empowering.

GAMEPLAY

Summit of the Wolf is a cross between a traditional 2D point-and-click first-person adventure game and a visual novel. It is presented in the visual style of graphic novels and focuses on exploration and narrative. Explore the world by navigating from scene to scene. Separate inventory, map, journal, and character screens are available at the push of a button. All standard adventure game mechanics are present, including locations to explore, items to collect and use, characters to meet and interact with, and puzzles to solve--all without any major pixel hunting!

FEATURES

 • Explore an original fantasy world: The realm in which Ophelia awakes is vast and features a variety of environments, from living forests to damp caverns to cursed catacombs...and more!
 • Interact with its many unique inhabitants: Summit of the Wolf features over two dozen characters, all with their own distinct personalities--some quirky, others helpful, and a select few terrifying. Professional actors, including the legendary Lani Minella (best known as the voice of Nancy Drew) provide many of the voices.
 • Experience a complex narrative: Story comes first in Summit of the Wolf, and Ophelia's personal journey--both literal and metaphorical--lies at the heart of this emotional tale.
 • Enjoy a beautiful orchestral score: Summit of the Wolf's soundtrack is over two and a half hours long!
 • Solve a multitude of challenging puzzles: Puzzles abound in Summit of the Wolf, but they are organic rather than obstructive and fit within the context of the narrative. While you may feel challenged, you should never feel frustrated or hopelessly stuck!
 • Uncover the truth: Summit of the Wolf is a 10+ hour interactive drama that teaches us that it is always darkest before dawn.

AN ONGOING SAGA

Summit of the Wolf is the fifth entry in the ongoing Storycentric Worlds series. While Summit of the Wolf is a standalone story and can be enjoyed in full without any prior knowledge of the series, it is also part of a larger, ongoing saga. Longtime fans will see the return of fan favorites Kate Ekan and Brianna Auberon from Shady Brook and The Filmmaker, respectively, and Summit of the Wolf sets up events for the next chapter in the series.
Not a victim. A survivor
Storycentric Worlds has returned with another great and emotional story. This is the fifth game from the series and based on a true story, which makes it very special. There is a mention of child abuse, sexual and emotional. It is a very sensitive subject and can trigger some people, but trust me, there is nothing graphical about it. The story is well written and nicely told. It starts off with a young girl named Ophelia who fell into a coma due to trauma. Her mind drifts her into a fantasy land where she meets good and bad people. Everything in the fantasy land reflects in her real life. While she was laying on her ICU bed, her parents visited her, claiming she fell off the stairs, however, the nurse, Brianna, a returning character from The Filmmaker game sensed something is off about the parents, she also tends another patient, Kate, another returning character from Shady Brook game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2069434434...

I've played all of the Unimatrix/Storycentric games and they just keep getting better. Great artwork, music, narrative, and characters you care about. Summit of the Wolf is a multi-faceted story of a child facing and triumphing over abuse. It took me about 8 hours to play through and it was a real pleasure. Puzzles are never hard and the creation of a journal, a map, and a codex (definition of terms) as you play add depth to the experience. The voice acting is well done but I tend to turn voices off and just enjoy the music (which effectively sets the mood for each scene). There are a handful of timed activities (clicking when prompted) to simulate physical activities such as fishing, chopping a tree, wielding a weapon. I am the original novice at hand/eye coordination but these were easy for me so this should not discourage adventure purists. Those who have played previous games (LifeStream, Shady Brook, The Filmmaker, Stonewall Penitentiary) will recognize the intuitive point/click ...

Storycentric Worlds is an ongoing series of narrative game/books and point and click/adventure games that takes place in the same fictitious universe Characters are weaved in and out of the stories. If you have played Shadybrook, it is like that; it deals with disturbing subject matter. You do not need to have played the other games in the Storycentric World to have a full understanding of what is going on; this is a stand-alone game. This is (at times) sobering, but a heartfelt amazing story based on true events. Some parts of this game were disturbing, but it is an enjoyable game. The locations were interesting and different, puzzles were well done and made sense! There's plenty of humor in the game, at the right time, even though it deals with mature subject matter. There are four timed events, but they are slow, even I managed them thus far! As a side note: People will have a better understanding and empathy for what survivors go through after playing this; that is a great ...

Stonewall Penitentiary was their first game to have more of a 'normal' interface for a P&C game, the others were hybrid games - part visual novel part point n click. Here they have taken it even further and now it really plays like any normal P&C game. Far more gameplay than their others, lots of integrated puzzles even a couple of minigames. All this was a welcome surprise, the one annoyance was their introduction of quick time events. Clicking when a moving slider is in a short window. It's not that they are hard, if you can do any hidden object game puzzles of timing/reaction, or the early walking dead quick time events you will have no problem here. I always thought it was a developers' lazy way to introduce some type of gameplay into their games (telltale) and here it feels out of place. It's not needed as there is so much very good intelligent gameplay and quick time events equate for me with the 'dumbing' down of games. Also there will be some people that just can't do t...

I've played all of this developer's games, in what is a planned eighteen game series, and enjoyed them all. I've particularly liked Lifestream, The Filmmaker, and the recent Stonewall Penitentiary. I've particularly liked how he weaves his characters in and out of his stories. In fact, two of the reappearing characters in this story were first seen in Shadybrook and The Filmmaker. That's not to say that the stories in each game are incomplete or that the developer leaves you hanging, he doesn't. He just picks up the characters at a different point in their lives. This game is more like Shadybrook, in that it deals with disturbing subject matter. I won't deny that some parts were unsettling for me, but overall I really enjoyed the game. I especially liked the caves of the giant eagles, which were slightly Mayan in flavor, and in which the puzzles were particularly well integrated. There were humorous passages too, such as a swamp filled with sarcastic talking trees. Some ...

WOW. This is an extremely underrated game, at least presently. Everyone should play it - you will be pleasantly surprised. We are faced with some masterful storytelling here at its best, so thank you for that. I'm just glad stories like this one still get told as uncomfortable as they are to witness. I definitely did not expect what I got so a word of caution; this is not a kids game. Also, I wouldn't look at a visual novel tag as this is more of a point and click puzzle adventure. The characters are absolutely beautiful and different and the puzzles were a lot of fun. I'm all about poetic "Labyrinth" like riddles and zero hand holding so if you are too, here is a great game to get. As soon as I'm allowed I will be favoring this one for 2020. "Now Peter, I only have one question. Do you believe in justice?"

So first off. To the developers really thanks for making this game didn't expect at all the Great jump of quality respect the previous titles but it show all the love and care you have put into it. Really Well Done. I Completed the game now and trying to give a "little" review without spoilering anything and in the best english I can. I put this game on the level of Shady Brooks (from whom some characters reappears one of them I wasn't really expecting and I hope he will get what he deserve at some point in the future). For the players who wants to approach this Don't let the cute fantasy aspect make you think this is a lighthearted story. Is really a well written psycological horror/drama with fantasy aspects in it. So expect to be NOT scared in "the monster is chasing me, I have to fight" kinda setting but to be unsettled by a plot that reveals himself while you play. In the Complex I loved the story (A little over the top in the end. But it get the message through and end up ok) th...

First of all, for those who got here through my profile or friend list, this is NOT a game for my collection of chill adventures. Not so much chill here. It's still a pretty good game, though, if you like your adventures dark and tense. It captivated me and I might finish it some time to get "closure", but it did stress me more than I would have liked. Second, I was not familiar with the dev's previous games that this one apparently builds on and references to, and I didn't get the impression that would have been necessary. This game is an interesting mix. Dialogue-heavy Point & Click adventure, a good deal of exploration and questing, a little RPG flavour, (optional) narration of journal entries and lore... Also a mix of fantasy universe and serious real world problems (general themes:
emotional and sexual abuse, assault, deaths of close family members, suicide
; also a heads-up that a few subjective comments may be upsetting if you have experienced abuse by wome...

Gorgeous, heart-wrenching and totally engrossing dark fantasy from the brilliant minds of Christopher and Elle Brendel! The latest in the interconnected Storycentric games universe follows 12 year old Ophelia, who finds herself in a fantastical world that is as terrifying as it is wondrous. Guided by a white wolf and a mysterious goddess, she embarks on a quest for a pool of wisdom, learning friendship, courage and determination along the way, but is she ready to face the true quest? This game features great puzzle-solving, haunting music, breathtaking artwork and a mind-bending story that is both tragic and spiritually uplifting. Important even. VERY dark. Occasionally frustrating. But highly recommended for everyone but especially if you've gone through bad things in life. I feel like this game could actually help in some ways. or if you like anything fantasy related you will love this! Follow the white wolf to the purchase button!

As usual, Christopher has done a fantastic job! The backing story was dark, but compelling. The characters were well voiced. You definitely develop a bond for Ophelia, Roluk and Ilea. I suppose my only complaint is that there was not a little bit more to the backing story as well as the journey to he Summit Of The Wolf after leaving Scarwood Keep. Other than that, kudos to Christopher for creating another great game! I cannot wait to play the next one!
