This is a tough review. On one hand, this game really does /nail/ the rogue-like metroidvania style. Explore rooms until you can't, find an upgrade, proceed. Bash your head into walls looking for secrets. Fight lots of enemies. But it also just... kinda falls flat on the weapon variety. It feels like you're being encouraged to 'experiment' with your weapon, but all in all most parts are just direct upgrades to what a weapon already does without changing it functionally. This starts to make repeat runs feel very... samey. Get a damage boost, get a range boost, use whatever progression weapon/element you need to open doors. I feel this game needs more variety to it, or to have that variety better seeded into the run. I don't wanna spend another twenty minutes getting minor upgrades for the basic laser that just... make the laser shoot faster/further/harder. Split is a good start, bounce is useful in a lot of fringe cases, but overall I don't get excited about either of those. And that...

TL;DR game is good buy it. I never really leave reviews because most of the time everything I want to say has already been said, but right now I got on time to the party, this game is really something else, the gameplay loop is addicting, the weapon mish mashing is fun and intuitive, the controls are rock solid, the gamplay is difficult but fair at all times and overall the experience is quite enjoyable, been palying it non stop since release and I've not been able to defeat the 3rd boss, looking forward for this game's future content and all things related to it, respect to the developer for all the hard work that was put into this game to make it as polished and fun as it is!

It's a fun game! This and "A Robot Named Fight" are the only two rogue-lites/likes that I am aware of that legitimately play as mini-metroidvania games. The level design in some rooms of this game can get a bit experimental, but it is a really solid experience overall. The aspect of making new weapons is so much fun, would definitely recommend

Controls feel off, no tutorial about what is going on and the mechanics of weapons, looks like it was made in a game maker.

This game is very good. The music is super catchy and that noise you hear when you find a secret room is orgasmic.

Very, very lovely game! I went in expecting almost nothing, and I have to admit - it is very fun! It sort of mixes Binding of Isaac with metroidvania lessons, and adds a healthy dose of shoot-em-up guns variety and all of that. There are secret rooms, suit upgrades (double jump, transform to creepy-crawly, etc), weapon types (plasma, fire, rockets), and plenty of weapon upgrades that you get to select yourself: range increase, spread projectiles, homing, etc. There are also items that can be used, but I haven't found any yet, in my 21 min test. These are all found in the world by shooting containers, which can either be accessed immediately, or you need to unlock them first by paying with credits or your health. Platforming is nice and fluid, albeit slightly too fast for my initial expectations - but this'll probably be different once I get adjusted to the game better. Default controls are just slightly awkward, but effective. Either way you can rebind them, or simply use controller....

Weapon Hacker: The Selected Works Quick Hit Review Steam Curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44858736/ Miraculous little game that generates mini-Metroidvania adventures on the fly (with surprising competency even though they're not bespoke), but that's only the delicious outer layer. The core of Weapon Hacker is the Weapon Hacking, where you add different firing modes to your gun, and different attributes to those modes, to create some real overpowered delicacies of sci-fi weaponry. It is without exaggeration a GAMES MEDIA CRIME that this game is not better known. Your journalists, they have failed you again

Rogue-lite Metroidvania with modular equipment/upgrades. Wanna shotgun laser blast? Slap a few splitters on a laser module and bam! shotgun laser blast. Want to be the bullet hell? several bounce upgrades, a few splitters, and long range upgrades and there you go! And that's before we get into the ability to stack different weapon types. What we have is fun, and shows good promise. It is however unfortunate that due to the lack of getting noticed it appears that the dev has stopped working on the game. Some might think what is there may not be enough, and I can't fully fault them on that. The base is there and it feels like it is ready and able to be built up from it, such as larger worlds, more upgrades, weapon types, etc etc etc. But sadly that's sometimes the fate of games that don't get noticed soon enough to let the devs continue working on them. Though there is also
a NG+ and NG++ of sorts
that is hidden in each run. And once finding that out it makes it fee...

An excellent, if a little short, rogue-lite metroidvania with tons of replay value.
