It's a gem, the second game is insanely better but please try it a shot. You will thank me later.

This game is a serious classic and such a great experience, have finished it like 3 times since it came out. I can wholeheartedly recommend the ORIGINAL 2012 Steam version. But you know what sucks? The remastered version, which thank god isnt sold on Steam. But why is that? Well, here are some observations I made: - There is constant artifacting and graphical corruption on monitors above 60hz - DSR does no longer work - Direct aiming is broken - Some graphical effects are missing - Enemy death ragdolls are broken - Epic Store exclusive I admit textures and models look better though I bet some people might not like some of the characters changes. The biggest win are the cutscenes since the original had 720p ones with really low audio quality. But all this doesnt matter at all since the remastered version is literally unplayable with the constant graphic errors. It is beyond me how this got through testing and was released in such a way and worse, they NEVER fixed it. The game only ...
The most tedious zombie game I've ever played. Yes, it's a zombie game. The enemies are called "The Taken" in this one, but their function and behavior is identical to those in any zombie game. And there's really only one type of them. You fight the exact same "Angry Zombies With Axes" over and over for the entire game. Actually, that's not true. Sometimes they have machetes. The first half of the game is spent running through a dark forest at night. Just miles and miles of forest. The repetition is bad enough, but to make it worse, you can only run for about four seconds before you start breathing heavy and slow down to a light jog. Alan Wake is the most out-of-shape video game character I've ever played. It's probably true-to-life with regards to middle-aged writers, but when your endless night forest levels are this large, maybe you could've had your main character do some cardio on his off days...? In fact, in one fight scene, I literally died because my character was bent over ...
Hard to believe it’s this under-reviewed. A twisty, tightly wound plot. Atmosphere so thick it pulls you straight into foggy forests and your favorite sleepy town—if it were written by Stephen King. First the fog rolls in, then the shadows whisper, and before long you’re swinging a flashlight at murderous IKEA furniture. The dodge-flash-shoot combat loop never gets old—there's something deeply satisfying about burning away the darkness before unloading your revolver. And when you catch your breath between encounters, KBF-FM drops absolute BANGERS that hit harder than they should—and it heavily complements the Bright Falls atmosphere. Peak gaming—aged like fine wine.
Thank you Energizer™ for helping me survive the nightmare! --- Alan Wake has all the jank and charm that early Remedy had, similar to Max Payne. A pretty unique gameplay mechanic and a great story that unravels as you play. Similar to Max Payne, the way it's voice acted and how the story goes is so cheesy yet incredibly intriguing. The game is good, but there's flaws. 1. Normal = Hard difficulty in the PC version for some reason. I wish I knew that because I was getting frustrated with some real bullshit encounters I faced. 2. Alan runs like a overweight 8 year old with asthma. I know it's probably a limit to put in place so you don't just run from checkpoint to checkpoint, but man. The "speedwalking" you're forced to do inbetween the maximum 3 seconds of sprint is annoying. Especially in the big, open areas. 3. The main thing: It gets repetitive. Fast. It overstays its welcome IMO and should've been a couple "chapters" shorter. The first few hours are great fun. T...
horrible slug of a game, read a book, watch paint drying on a wall. i can be 100% sure that it will be much fun to be looking into a mirror at yourself for 10 hrs rather than playing this game.
spooky, super fun game where you zap shadow monsters with a flashlight &nd gun, with a cool story like a scary movie, but fighting can get samey..
Amazing tale of a writer battling shadowy horrors with the world’s most overworked flashlight. The atmosphere is superb, and the story is great… aaand the combat? Well, let’s just say I’ve had more exciting slap fights with my toaster.
Alan Wake, developed by Remedy Entertainment and released on Steam in 2012 after its original Xbox 360 debut, is a unique blend of psychological thriller, action-adventure, and supernatural horror. From the very first moments, the game wraps players in an atmosphere of tension, mystery, and unease, fueled by a story-driven experience that emphasizes narrative immersion above all else. Taking cues from the works of Stephen King, David Lynch, and classic horror films, Alan Wake builds a compelling world where the line between fiction and reality is increasingly blurred, and where the protagonist’s own written words manifest into terrifying threats. You play as Alan Wake, a bestselling crime novelist who travels to the remote town of Bright Falls with his wife, Alice, hoping to overcome a stubborn case of writer’s block. But things quickly spiral into the surreal when Alice disappears and Wake begins to find pages of a manuscript he doesn’t remember writing—pages that describe ho...
so i am half way through chapter 4 right now, and this is genuinely one of the worst games i have ever played in my entire life. the gameplay is shining a light at an enemy and then shooting it until it dies. thats it. its fun for 30 minutes, and then the remaining 10 and a half hours is just mindlessly shooting and running around and dying to stupid possessed objects that fly at you with no way to dodge them properly. the level design is the same fucking thing over and over and over and despite living in washington, i never want to take step into a forest again because it will remind me of how much of my life i lost to this irredeemable piece of absolute dogshit on a silver platter called the remedyverse. control and alan wake 2 are "supposedly" good games but after going through this absolute god awful nightmare, i have nothing else to say except for i highly doubt the other games in this franchise can actually be that good.
