I play a lot of games, and surprising to me, Jagged Alliance 3 is one of the ones I feel fondest about. While the characters are pretty comedic and out there, they end up quite endearing and the game on a whole actually has a lot of heart. There are so many things I can gush about. Firstly, Grand Chien is beautiful, the graphics are great and each locale is unique and thought out. Music is also fantastic and really creates this unique tropical adventure vibe. Honestly, I'd get a big smile every time I pull up the loading screen. The mercs and skills are unique and well thought out. It's really interesting on a strategic level to assemble your teams based on their skills, personalities, and even relationships (some get buffs/debuffs if they're on the same squad). And then the banter is also hilarious and depends on who's in your squad. On top of that, the strategic game is actually very good. I played a ton of X-com 2, and while it's not the same, it's really enjoyable in its own way w...

The lack of information given to the player is absurd. Also, having the computers have like triple the AP that you have is insane

Whole concept of turn based tactical game is implemented in a bad way for me. I played former Jagged Alliance games and most of other turn based tactical games and I disliked every aspect of implementation of the genre in this game. It feels like some basic mobile game.

Bought the game when it came out, played 25 hours on Linux without problems. Now I'm not allowed to install it anymore since I'm not on Windows (and never ever will be). Fucking scam.

I liked the game until a character called Pierre tanked like more than 7 bullets while using melee attacks on my guys. I don't see how this one guy is tanking head shots with a banana? Not just tanking head shot he is tanking multiple rounds of my guys shooting him in ridiculous close range with 7.62 and 9mm and 45 mm bullets hitting his face and he doesn't die.

Jagged Alliance 3 had the potential to be great, but it's just mediocre. It really deserves the mixed review, first because of janky movements, looting and end of combat movement. Let me explain, you want to take cover on a full wall by a door? Your guy will go close the door and stand in the middle of the room, there is no option to stand next to the wall. Want to take cover next to a dead soldier to keep fighting, but your guy wants to loot the body in the open and gives no context to take cover on the cover. The looting after battles is so tedious, that alone would prompt a negative review. Walk every corner of the map just to find some berries. Lastly, if you deployed your heavy machine gun bipod, and win the battle, your guy just flat refused to stand up. This means you have to enter options menu on your soldier, tell him to pick up his gun every time battle ends, make him stand, make him stand, yes you must repeat the command twice, until you can move around. Last of all, the com...

Yes, but direct money problems and mines losing revenue should be cut out of the game. A core game mechanic that rushes the player through the game until the end is bad. It's mindwrecking when an immersive tactical game has layers of mechanics to keep the player from the tactical gameplay he bought the game for and where modders have their hands full to correct the problems. (esssential mods that rarely work these days).

"So what are we waiting for, Woody?" I'm a big fan on the classic JA2, and this did not disappoint! Whether you're a fan of the originals, turn-based or just strategy games in general, I would highly recommend this one!
