About This Game

Think of Downtown Drift as pac-man, but as a first-person racing game. You need to try and score as many points as possible by drifting while police is chasing you down. Each drift gives you a certain amount of points and also increases your multiplier. The higher the multiplier, the more points you get for each drift. However there is a catch: you only have limited health and you take damage everytime you crash, so watch how you move!

Features

  • Fast pace racing with thrilling police chases
  • Realistic car destruction
  • Global Highscore Ranking to compete with friends and players around the world

Simple yet fun game about drifting your way through an empty city in as much style as possible, while avoiding an armada of police cars chasing you. While this game had a few issues at launch, like the lack of a tutorial that made getting into the game quite difficult, the developer has since added a guide, and once you start to get over the initial learning curve, increasing your multiplier by drifting perfectly to rack up the highest score becomes quite addictive. The global leaderboard was also a great addition that gives the game a challenging competitive aspect, and motivates you to keep on improving your drifting. In conclusion, Downtown Drift feels polished, the soundtrack is surprisingly catchy, and the mechanics are fun and addictive. Also, it costs less than a coffee at Starbucks. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Walls and roads blend together. If you want to play a driving game that simulates having cataracts at night I think this one comes close.

At its current state, I do not recommend this game. The Main menu and options menu freeze for me several times. I have no idea what the keys are for this game with no explanation. Steam Achievements are broken ATM i assume. Needs alot more work. Though on the plus side I do like the concept of the game, just needs more expalnation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt3fRlSlvUA

A great game tied together with simple controls and nice simple graphics. The handling is great, maybe a bit too sensitive, but okay. The drifting is a bit tricky at first (as is all drifting games) but once you get the hang of it it's pretty good. The buildings are a bit plain but it kinda fits in with the simpleness of the game. The lighting in this game is great and once again simple, the strobe effect of the lightbars reminding me of the NFS 3 Hot Pursuit's lightbar effect. Speaking of pursuits, you got a whole downtown precinct out to get you. Why? Who knows but it's enough of a reason to avoid them. It's a grab and go play and have fun type of game, the one that you get addicted too, and I can see myself getting addicted to it already. If there's anything I'd like changed, it'd be the cops radio chatter getting louder along with the sirens, it's somewhat annoying. Another thing I'd love to see (my opinion at least) is a different type of police car altogether instead of it being ...

Is quite fun, also very challanging to keep your multiplier up with cops driving way crazier than in Grand Theft Auto. The only downside for me is clearly: Too many lampposts >:(

This is a pretty neat game. Its a very unique idea. It does kind of remind me of Atari 2600 games, but that's probably just because the dev put the idea in my head with the Pacman comparison. The gameplay seemed not so great at first, but once I got the drifting down, the game became very fun and intense. Great way to kill a few minutes here and there. I like the graphics a lot. This is probably because of how unique they are. The buildings could use more detail, though. Im not saying they should be all textured and stuff, but the way it is makes it look like your not downtown. Maybe an industrial area or something. Some doors and windows (doesn't' have to be transparent) to make it look like there are storefronts would really help I think. Other than that, I don't have any real complaints. Its very simple, so there isn't a whole lot more I can say about it. Update: My complaint about the buildings is no longer valid. They have been upgraded, and are great now.

Essentially, it's the police chasing from GTA/NFS games made into its own game, finely tuned for total on the edge of your seat driving and I like it! The graphics are good (it plays to its strengths, using neon and darkness nicely) and it's really addictive. The dev keeps working on it, refining it and making it better.. couldn't ask for more, really. Fun game!
