Echo Generation: Midnight Edition

Really good short game. Not too hard. Perfect for anyone with the jrpg itch but without the long gameplay-loop. There are rarely any random battles. The game feels really cozy, vibrant colors. Just like stranger things, the goonies or E.T. 10/10. The voxel-graphics look nice, not too blocky, still pretty detailed.

Short, sweet and awesome. Unique visual style that is surprisingly awe inspiring at times. Overall a very enjoyable experience. I really hope they make a sequel!

I enjoyed this game a bit. They put quite a lot of work into the environments, it is a very pretty game. But they storytelling and game design dramatically fell flat. Nothing in the game that happens seems to matter. the two kids go along and kill giant mechs and aliens and wendigos and none of this is acknowledged or taken seriously. You're basically just going through a series of random combat encounters. I had to look up what to do on a wiki many times. There were many quests where I needed to get a certain item that was in great abundance in the maps, yet none of those items would work. (one quest required bike parts, and none of the many abandoned bikes could be used. another quest required a souvenir from an alien craft, and nothing from the two separate alien spaceships could work either. The combat wasn't great but wasn't terrible. Hire a good writer next time.

The vibes of the game are impeccable, think Stranger Things + Earthbound + Mario RPG, but the gameplay and story are really thin (and short). It's probably aimed at a much younger audience I guess. Recommended with caveat: Only worth a buy on sale.
