I've got to play this in beta already and was immediately hooked. And i gotta warn you - it's almost as hard as i was, when i've got to experience the neon-graphics, the awesome physics and the soundtrack of the game for the first time. You are a neon cube that tries to make its way through platform levels that were designed to corpulate with your buttocks (steamfriendly) while synthwave-esque music constantly penetrates your brain like a corkscrew and you begin to question your life-choices. But nothing beats the feeling of finally reaching the end of a hard level and the magic mixture of adrenaline, serotonine, testosterone (q made me grow a beard in 30 minutes) and endorphine starts flooding through your body and you feel like a demigod on its way to beat the shit out of Kratos. Just to repeat the whole process of dying thousands of times in the next level again. But no death is unnessecary - because with every death you learn more about the game and its mechanics, and you get bette...
I don't normally review games before completing them but....this one is definitely worth it! I played the demo for this game about 9 months before it was released and immediately I was hooked! Been waiting for the release date ever since! This game is so fun! Everything about it is great! The music is awesome so that when you die over and over again you still don't get sick of hearing it! (And you will die A LOT) The platforming feels very fresh and unique! The Neon-ness looks great! Tough as nails (or should I say spikes?) this game is, a lot of precision platforming is required. Can't wait to see what else this game is waiting to throw at me! If you like challenging platforming (and I really mean it), this game is definitely for you! What a gem! I can see this being a 10/10 easily! Excellent work Devs! Thank you for this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NZseT0NeCU
I played the demo and the beta for this game. The game's movement mechanics are absurd, you're a rolling cube after all. The gameplay is super precise platforming similar to Super Meat Boy with a neon aesthetic and a synthy soundtrack that neither gets repetitive nor boring even hearing it after dying over and over again. You will feel sweet sweet happienes when you make a though jump but in contrast to other platformer it is dangerous to go slow. If you stop to take a deep breath the universe reminds you that you are but a rolling cube that seldomly just stops flat on the ground, it is far more likely that you are at an angle and then gravity, the cruel mistress, reminds you that cubes don't balance on their corners. The harder levels for sure will punish you if you even think about not moving at all! And every time you die you think: "If I just didn't do X I would've made it, arggh" The game almost never feels unfair, every time I died I thought it was my own fault, next time I wil...
My controller laughed at me for being bad. 15/10 *closes Q* "ah fuck it, one more try" *opens Q*
Very fun and intense Game! Good job guys, hope this takes off.
Really fun (and hard) platformer! I've now finished 2/3 of the game in ~17 hours (and 4.5k deaths), and every new level is only getting harder, but the rewarding feeling of finally beating a level you were stuck on is insane! Controls might be a bit difficult at first, but after a few (or many) deaths you'll get the hang of it. Every new mechanic is introduced in a nice and easy way, if you follow the "right" level route. You may feel like the game skips over a lot of necessary introductions if you happen to find an alternative route that leads you to another world or a Dark Chapter. Sound and visuals are both nice and it feels great to jump and roll through the bright neon levels with catchy tunes in the background. If you like platformers and are not discouraged by high difficulty and playing one level hundreds of times until you finally beat it, Q might be the right game for you!
After nearly 8 hours i finished the game. I finished it normaly, i only played one Dark World Ice level, but found some new routes, so thsi review only cover a normal play through. CON: - There are one or two levels, in the chapter Invert and Speed which gave me kind of motion sickness. - Sometimes I had Input laggs, but I dont know if can blame the game or my ***** Desktop. - I took a route which had a strange Difficulty Up and Down, maybe it is intended, but as you can see in my achievement the standard chapter was not the first i finished, so it may be my fault, i wont blame the Level Design, just pointing out you can ruined it for yourself. PRO: -Music and Look are fitting perfeclty together, and the respawn is flawless. -Introducing of new game play mechanics and the learning curve are user friendly and not as punishing as you may expect. - After 8 hours there is still more than 50% to explore, so its worth the yalready low price.
Excellent platformer, the level design is really good, doesn't feel repetitive at all, the control are good, although a bit annoying at times. I definitively wouldn't recommend this as your first platformer, since the later level can get really hard but i would definitively recommend this to any platformer fan Rethinking about the game, this one definitively moved to one of my most liked platformer, highly recommend
Disclaimer: My scores/reviews are almost always based on having bought the game at close to the "lowest historical price" on steam at time of purchase. Quick score: 5/5 Notes: The cube physics are slightly clunky compared to a standard platformer but you get used to it eventually. Crazy amount of stages (300+) with collectibles and a metroid style branching path world map. All of the stages are pretty well designed and unique. Clean minimalist aesthetic and does a good job of mixing up the mechanics and visuals frequently enough to keep it fresh. It took me 18 hours to get 99.99% complete (I quit on the final level because too hard and no checkpoints) This is a top tier platformer, highly recommend especially if you can get on sale. But even for the full 15$ the game offers more than enough content IMO
