Bought this hoping for a megaman clone, but this game lacked the fluid controls, endearing characters, or graphical flair of the original. I played the game on Ubuntu Linux, with a gamepad controller. No technical issues.

So far, I'm having a good time but this game is HARD.
Nice little megaman clone. You can beat it in 30 minutes on your first playtrough. It's good fun for the asking price.
nice
Enjoyable Megaman-like with fun power ups, smart level/boss designs and some banger tunes. Recommended.
Simple throwback to a simpler time, minus all the screen tearing. Fairly short game that can be completed in a single setting, it offers a challenge whilst still having neat modern additions like unlimited lives and automatic checkpoints where needed. Thoroughly enjoyed it, highly recommend.
Graphics: enjoyable Music: their is was a bop (i think) Game play: 7.5 Story: based Lore: robot Covid Volume: loud Alpha: yes Funny:
the final boss is a skeleton crab
Length: 1:24:23.3 Summary: Erm... This game is like Beta Man. It also has many references to cool things (maybe jojo). Maid bot weapon is Op do not nerf pls. Thank you for the 1:24:23.3 moments of fun!
Alphaman at it's base is a pretty decent megaman inspired game. There's fun to be had and it can definitely give that itch if you really want megaman. I think there's just a lot of small annoyances that end up hindering my enjoyment of it unfortunately. The level design is alright usually, though in the maid bot level it really has issues with not seeing ahead (and there are a lot of enemies that will just fall onto you. Enemy variety can be a bit lacking as well. The two issues I ran into a lot are the lack of coyote time and unclearness of how to tackle some of the later enemies. Some of the minibosses don't really feel clear on what attacks are even doing anything. I also feel like half the new attacks are just kind of bad in this game? The Knife feels like it does almost no damage, and doesn't even seem to hit some airborn bosses, and the holy molotov is so specific to set up it doesn't seem to be worth it? I never even figured out what boss is weak to it. If it's fire man I sure d...
A Megaman-inspired Kaizo that's visually smoother and more slippery (in terms of controls). Music is great, foes and stages are fair and distinct, but some platforms are very precise and the save checkpoints aren't well spread out. There isn't a tutorial for the player to learn how Alphaman controls, if you started the game blind and without reading the description, you wouldn't be remiss to know Alphaman can use his special ability without using his power, if you longpress the "x" button. You can also dash by holding shift. There's a handful of secret stages you can access if you're agile enough, earning yourself a variety of keys that each increase your special power capacity. Balance is a major issue though. The first filter point is fighting the first boss without any notable special ability, but as you beat the bosses you unlock an ability from them. The become significantly easier once you get the Maid's broom, but certain bosses go down easier if you use specific weapons such...
I really like about 40% of this game. There's certainly a niche among Megaman die-hards that'll love Alphaman in spite of its flaws. Annoying aspects of the original Megaman titles - limited by inferior hardware - don't exist here. The speed is markedly improved. Some of the platforming puzzles are fiendish in very clever ways. The things I didn't like but wouldn't count against the game are the shortness (only 4 bosses), clunky menus, minimalist animations, and sometimes baffling art design. I forgive those, no problem. My objective criticisms have to do with the mechanics, which work for me just short of a majority of the time. Wall-jumping feels great until you have to platform with it. Dashing I immediately forgot I had. Maneuvering levels doesn't feel good, like there's too much gravity pulling you down. Those criticisms are small in number, but punishing in scope. These core mechanics make or break a game in this genre, and for me in Alphaman's case, it's more the lat...
