About This Game

A chill game set in a cozy village

Traverse the four seasons in this wholesome world inhabited by quirky fruits and vegetables! As the newest guardian of the Grove, it is your duty to rebuild the village and uncover the story of its hidden past.

Grow with the town

Complete daily requests to defend, restore, and improve the town. As you progress, you'll unlock memories that allow Concord to harness the power of their predecessors.

A satisfying journey of rebuilding and collecting

Listen to the sweet and catchy music of the island, relax in The Grove’s cozy and inviting atmosphere, cultivate gardens and libraries, and enjoy the delightful personalities you’ll meet along the way. You can even collect adorable hats and backpacks in every village!

Play at your own pace

Only have 12 minutes to spare? That's just enough time for a quick gameplay session. Looking to stay awhile? Take your time rebuilding the Grove. Either way, there’s always something you can do to help your community— they’re counting on their new guardian!

Accessibility Options

For those who prefer to progress the story without the stresses of combat, you can always turn on “perish prevention” mode in the gameplay options. This setting is also helpful for getting past difficult enemies or boss fights.

  • Explore a lush, living world: Immerse yourself in The Grove’s vibrant, organic ecosystem with four distinct (and adorable!) regions to enjoy.
  • Foster community: Take on requests, complete favors, and work as a role model to provide inhabitants with the confidence to support one another. Don’t be afraid to ask for help: we’re rebuilding together!
  • Combat Rot: Solve puzzles and fend off Rot as you delve into particularly infested locations of The Grove. Take caution: especially formidable Rot have taken residence in the depths of these areas!
  • Experiment with equipment: Utilize a variety of items to help gather resources, grow gardens, stave off Rot, solve puzzles, and indulge in the occasional musical interlude!
  • Cultivate your home: Care for garden plots, gather resources, curate libraries, upgrade your tools, and rebuild structures.

This could've been an okay game. It really could. I don’t think it ever tried to be great, and honestly, that’s fine. Not every game needs to be some grand, genre-defining masterpiece. But the thing is, there are just so many little annoyances piled up here that the whole thing ends up falling apart. By the time I reached the end, I just... I don’t think I can recommend it to anyone. The story? Eh, it’s alright. Doesn’t blow your mind, doesn’t do anything particularly clever, but it’s serviceable. It exists. For a short game, I guess that’s enough. Art style’s decent, but some of those tilesets are rough, and paired with bad collision detection, walking around isn’t great. The soundtrack is kinda cute, actually. I found myself humming it here and there. It’s not something I’d go listen to on its own, but it does the job. It’s fine. But the controls. Oh god, the controls. Why do they feel like this? Once you start attacking in one direction, that’s it. Yo...

Garden Story is a cute little adventure. Nothing demanding, just simple collecting and hitting a bit of stuff. The artstyle is also cute. You complete a few requests, which also aren't that deep and go on your days. You can take as much time as you want, slowly getting all the outfits and leveling all the different towns, but it is not necessary to complete the story, it just helps you by getting stronger, as you are able to buy better upgrades for your items. The story isn't that deep either, but I liked it enough that it kept me going, wanting to complete the game. Can I recommend it though? Well if you like what I've just said, I'd definitely recommend it. However standalone, as it is. It doesn't offer much. You will be doing the same things over and over again, running from A to B, slaying the same enemies again and again. The only times you'll encounter something new, as as you continue the story and get more of the story or the next area and items. Every new area has a new we...

Garden Story is a charming and heartfelt indie adventure that blends elements of exploration, combat, and community-building into a delightful package that feels both fresh and familiar. At first glance, its colorful, pixel-art style and gentle pacing might evoke memories of classic action-adventure titles, but beneath its sweet exterior lies a game rich with personality, thoughtful design, and engaging mechanics. Players take on the role of Concord, a young grape tasked with protecting and restoring their island home, a narrative premise that infuses the game with warmth and purpose from the start. The heart of Garden Story lies in its exploration and world-building. The island is divided into several distinct regions, each filled with quirky characters, hidden secrets, and unique environmental puzzles. Moving through these areas, players gather resources, complete quests, and interact with a variety of NPCs who contribute to the sense of community and progression. The pacing here is...

I think that so many people, including myself, just expected a totally different type of game than this. According to the trophies, only 40% stayed through the tutorial. I can't really speak for if this is a good game or not, but I do know that my expectations were not met. Maybe watch some more gameplay before deciding to purchase because playing doesn't feel as "cute" as it looks.

a foolproof formula of action-adventure RPG with cute graphics, an amazing story and a good soundtrack. its pacing, difficulty, pricing, and length are perfect. i'm always on the lookout for games like this, and there's a surprising amount of games like this by other indie devs that are also quality. garden story was exactly what i was looking for!

Good game with good vibe. Feel a bit like walking simulator since player walk a lot. Perk slots (memories) and their abilities are very fun to modify with a lot of synergy effects. Dash damage perk is OP as hell. Artworks are great. Music good and not annoyed. Be aware that this game still has flute crash effect bug (crash happen after player unlock 'flute' equipment) so don't pick up flute without backup file (there is only 1 achievement associated with flute which is unlock the flute itself so no need to re unlock the flute after the game crash) take sometimes to complete the story but not too long nor too bored. In conclusion, recommended:) P.S. Dev said he doesn't have plan for coop in the near future yet so buying this game wishing for future coop isn't recommended. Also compare to a lot of farm and adventure games, this game doesn't have relationship and npc date feature which is good for story focus game.
