About This Game

Rhome is a first-person, dark, atmospheric exploration game where players navigate an increasingly chaotic and psychologically unnerving environment as the very fabric of reality unravels around you. Step into the role of Hailey Rhome, a distinguished architect, who returns from a long day at work to find her husband missing and her home a hostile and unfamiliar place.

Explore Hailey's M.C. Escher-inspired home and uncover the truth of the nightmare that you've stepped into.

Key Features:

  • An interactive, horror novella experience that can be completed in one sitting
  • A fully voiced, female protagonist
  • Puzzles that shape the house around you
  • An uniquely chaotic environment to explore and discover

Notes:

  • Rhome is published by SMU Guildhall and developed a small student team at SMU Guildhall over a development cycle of 16 weeks.
  • Proceeds from your purchase of Rhome on Steam supports the students. They thank you for your support.
  • Additional development to extend the game is not currently planned beyond its academic completion.

A special note from SMU Guildhall:

Rhome is now free to play! The game was made by students at SMU Guildhall who are graduating in May, 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 outbreak. This is a difficult time for everyone. We decided to make Rhome and our other recent releases free for two reasons: 1) With a challenging job market, we wanted to show off the students' hard work to as wide an audience as possible. 2) Everyone stuck at home could use some fun, free entertainment.

If you are one of the gamers who supported our students and purchased the game, we thank you. Proceeds go directly to the students to help offset some of the extra development costs of making and publishing the game.

It's a very short game but It's seriously well done and seriously worth the five bucks just out of support. This will be a very very good time to any body that does play this game, the thrill, the scenes, the sounds, the dialogue ... I truly think this is a special experience and worth the time and money. Big thumbs up! Youtube Game Play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLqCENZJoDg

Gave me chills the whole time! The music set each mood really well, and the voice actress of Hailey did a fantastic job communicating her feelings of fear! All of the game's props and just general layout is seriously detailed, and it was a blast to see what was around each part of the house! A great psychological horror experience that shows how much the people behind it worked to make this! Horror doesn't always have to be about monsters and stuff; sometimes what is truly horrifying is our own minds.

It felt like an interactive version of House of Leaves, and I loved every troubling second of it. Short, yes. But beyond worth it. Can't wait to see what else comes out of SMU Guildhall in the future!

One-hour max experience, but really worth it. A really cool game, eerie and disorienting atmosphere, but no 'jumpscares'. I was especially impressed by the voice acting, which is very rare for a stickler like me. I enjoyed it, though the ending was a bit anticlimactic...The rest of the game was a really interesting concept with great game and sound design. Recommend.

It's a scary walking simulator type of game with light puzzles. And it's amazingly well done. The game has highly detailed and beautiful visuals, the sound effects and voice acting is on point, and the surroundings gets more bizarre as the story progresses. Gave me chills. I think this game was well done and well optimized. The graphics are decent and controller interface is very smooth with a few decent options to the whole game. A $5 game at full controller support is pretty good if you ask me The story was nice and a bit terrifying at times. One of the big reasons I got the game. Although when we break down game duration to dollars I can't say this game was worth the price but I would like to see others from these creators (or similar since it was a school endeavor) in the future. Other than a speed run I can't see playing this game again, though and that kind of sucks when there are games out there which are less costly that at least have decent achievements to attain other than speed runs. Cool game SMU folks! P.S. I'm getting sick of seeing the overly politically driven ideology of female protagonists/antagonists. I played this, it was good. No reason to promote it to me as a male or female role and it takes away from the experience. This bein...

3.5/5 Decent walking sim pretty short but still felt like it had parts that could be removed to make it flow better.

A fun little game with interesting visuals and story, as well as great sound design, with great voice acting as well. Even though a short experience, it was a fun one that got me way more stressed than I thought I would be. Totally worth playing.
