BROKEN GAME
Used to work, but recent updates cause consistent crashes at startup. The game is 100% unplayable (for me and several others). Numerous fixes have been tried (reinstalling, deleting Steam cache, updating drivers, sys scanning, installing latest Vulkan sdk, forcing DX11, DX12, Vulkan, etc.). Literally NOTHING works. Devs are 100% silent on the issue despite numerous complaints about this in the forum. This is on a more than capable machine: RTX 4080 32GB Ram Intel i9-13900HX, 2200 Mhz, 24 Core SSD 200GB free space I bought this game when it first went into early access. If it didn't work then I would have refunded. If I could get a refund NOW, I would. But that time has passed. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this game until this game breaking bug is fixed. This is the ONLY game (out of thousands I own) that will not work.

About This Game
Choose Your Home
Pick from thousands of procedurally generated environments across a map larger than Earth itself. Choose wisely, as each area has different climates, resources, and challenges. Finding the right place to begin your home is key to growing your civilization. Shape the world around you from the largest citadel to the smallest log, which can all be moved and placed at will.
Play Together
In multiplayer you can collaborate with friends to build major trading hubs, hospitals, and other large-scale builds that would be impossible to build alone. There’s no PVP, so relationships are based on cooperation and creating rather than destroying.
Find Resources
Find new resources and send your sapiens to investigate, leading to new breakthroughs that unlock new things to build and craft. Start with primitive materials and work your way up to using more advanced tools and techniques. Other tribes can also be a resource as they focus their skills on one of four different trades, including rock tools, bread, pottery, and bronze.
Lead Your People
Instruct individual sapiens to focus on specific tasks, such as research, planting crops, gathering materials, building, hunting, cooking, and more. Watch as they learn new skills, making them more valuable to your tribe. Manage their moods, health, and support their growing families.
Expand Your Reach
Trade across the globe with ease with tools like Sleds. Send sapiens over long distances and establish camps to gather far away resources. Explore over great distances by deploying a team of sapiens, or conduct a hunting mission to gather resources. Players can also grow their standing in other tribes for even more benefits in trading.
Sapiens features extensive mod support through Steam Workshop.

Game crashes, can't open it anymore and devs are silent about it. Don't recommend.
game wont launch somehow game launches after bad review now goo review
not sure whats going on with this game .63 hrs of playing it. now it wont load the game anymore.. cant even get to the menu before it crashes , hope its not dead
This is one of my favourite games. The graphics are so cute and appealing, the research system is so satisfying and progression feels so smooth. The trading system with other tribes is great. If people are active the online worlds it's even better. I don't have anything else to say, just an amazing and relaxing game, already having a decent modding community too. The reason I don't recommend it is that it's still early access and have been for so long. Last update was in april, 5 months ago. It's a small team developing the game and it has such a promising future. I want more content and it's hard to be patience. Unless you want to spend just a few hours and you feel done, don't use your money YET on this game.
A disgustingly ambitious game that somehow continues to deliver. The developer has managed to cram all of human history up to the bronze age in less than a gigabyte. Yes the game looks like shit, yes the sapiens aren't exactly cutting edge AI, and yes the controls are kind janky as a result of how barebones everything is, but holy hell is there content. Unlike every other colony builder that either gift wraps food or gives you agriculture straight off the bat, sapiens really makes you appreciate just how big a breakthrough agriculture was for humanity. Every little thing feels like an achievement, and the game really draws you in. The game needs continuing development to truly thrive, but I can still reccomend it in its current state.
I had played 170+ hours of this game but hadn't played the game for quite a few months. I saw there had been an update and I decided to dive back in with a new tribe. I had audio drop out randomly and the game crash while playing more than a few times. Now it won't even launch. I tried Verifying game files integrity and an uninstall / reinstall but it still crashes while launching. I also tried video and audio driver updates but as others are having issues, I don't think it's my computer. I hope there is another game update soon that addresses the recent issues that it appears that many others are having. I really enjoy the game and it scratches a specific itch. I would recommend if it currently worked. A reply from the developer would be nice as well. I can't currently recommend it, but if an update fixes these issues I would gladly change that verdict. One day after my review the developer had an update to address the crash. I haven't updated my drivers yet, but will soon...
TO BE FAIR......(pause for Letterkenny reference) .........I didn't play it for long. It just wasn't doing it for me. Not sure I'd call it BAD, just feel there are others that do it better.....Sorry.
Love the game. However once i got quite into the game, it crashed and now refuses to reopen. Left the game for the day and came back to it, still wont play. bummmer. was a great game :{ Im going to to uninstal and re-instal just to keep playing while loosing my village of over 200 people!!
Theres not enough technologies yet. But the creativity in this game is outstounding.
