Pretty much everything about this game is terrible, which is a great shame, since the first Initiate was almost decent with a few clever puzzles and some interesting design choices. The sequel had a fantastic idea of playing as several characters stuck in different but neighbouring rooms helping each other, but it was seriously let down by bland and unoriginal puzzles. Well, in Room 208 the inspiration has completely left the developers. The story is nonsensical and doesn't explain anything, the voice acting is horrendous, the writing is atrocious and still ridden with spelling mistakes. The puzzles require no logical thinking whatsoever, only observation. Most of them have been blatantly taken from previous games (arranging candles, rotating pictures, taking out books from a bookcase and so on). The idea of using lighter and having to refill it in order not to die in the darkness is also lacklustre. Since you have no quick saves, you just have to carefully go through each location, u...

Too many bugs for this to be on sale. The game also requires you to keep replenishing consumable resources, which is kind of annoying if what you want is to solve the challenges and so on. This one needs to be pulled from the shelves and subjected to a lot more play-testing.

For the price point that this game is at there are far better experiences to be had. The graphics of this game are beautiful and the voice acting is great, but beyond that there's not much else good to say. The mechanics of it are clunky and the choice of having your sanity meter go down even with the lighter out is abysmally infuriating. Every few seconds into a puzzle you have to run back to a ball of light as it's your only true light source and the only thing that will make your sanity go back to normal. The dude you're playing as only lasts bare seconds in the dark even with his lighter despite being a psychic who's likely used to these things--at least, he never sounds fazed when he has his voice lines. While one scare got me, it was unsatisfying. All the noises are canned and repetitive, with no real danger and they only serve to irritate you. For the price asked of this game you could play two other indie horror games that have more scares and more satisfaction than this one ha...

Not a bad attempt at mixing horror with puzzles. The puzzles are decent, some can be difficult, which I prefer. Hate having my hand held. Jump scares are "OK" and wouldn't say they were predicable or anything but are nothing special however the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Overall a decent attempt, solid 7/10. Pros: - Atmosphere is great. - Sound. - Puzzles. - Mix of tension and puzzles. Cons: - Proof reading. - NPC animations.

I reserve judgement as I've not played the whole game yet but so far so good. Decent atmosphere and sounds. Puzzles so far have been ok, nothing to strenuous. Something to entertain my Sunday while its raining outside :)

Although there are a few issues with the game play, I'm working my way through it and enjoying it thoroughly. The graphics are superb and I'm having a lot of fun with the puzzles which I think are very cleverly thought out. Keeping the lighter fuelled long enough to do a complete search of the various areas in the game is a real challenge and has had me starting a new game on several occasions each time avoiding having to search unrewarding areas. All in all great fun though and I'd highly recommend this game.
