About This Game

Hike, climb, and soar through the peaceful mountainside landscapes of Hawk Peak Provincial Park. Follow the marked trails or explore the backcountry as you make your way to the summit. Along the way, meet other hikers, discover hidden treasures, and take in the world around you.

Key Features

  • Explore the island any way you like. Choose your own path to follow and see where it leads you. You never know what you might stumble into!
  • Hike at your own pace — there’s no need to rush to the summit! Take your time fishing along the river banks or swimming by the lakeshore.
  • Collect hidden treasures to reach new heights. Try taking a dive off the mountain peaks to soar above the forests.
  • Chat with the other hikers you meet along your route. You might be able to help each other out!
  • Listen to a lush original soundtrack by Mark Sparling that progresses dynamically as you explore the wilderness.

bought it cause the reviews were so so high and yet im not an exploration game kinda guy, and even with that, I LOVE THE GAME. so cozy yet porpuseful with set goals (explorstion games with set tasks, YES!) and it imerses you in this island very quickly. the reason it feels really great yet being a pixel genre (which isnt for everyone) is because the mechanics aka flying amd double jumping feel really good. i love to just fly and fly as a cute bird love it

I'm left with a sense of nostalgia already from completing the game, this was a spectacular piece. The music, the gentle pixel-graphics and the incredible atmosphere and enviroment! An incredibly relaxing and cozy game in which you just want to go on and on, reach your goals, explore and just have fun. There are quite a bunch of features that keep you hooked. Flying around the map felt amazing! The hours spent on the game flew like nothing, I would play this game like ten more times. You're in for a ton of fun with this and even more if you're looking forward to get all the achievements. 10 out of 10! :D

The only downside to A Short Hike is that it ends too soon. I played it for the prompt "Play a game that reminds you of summer," and honestly, what feels more summery than hiking up a mountain in search of cell service? From the moment I arrived in Hawk Peak Provincial Park, I knew I was in for something special. You play as Claire, a bird visiting her aunt’s cabin, who needs to make an important phone call. The problem is, there’s no reception... except at the top of Hawk Peak. That’s your main goal, but A Short Hike never forces you to rush to it. Instead, it gives you the freedom to wander, get sidetracked, and discover the park at your own pace. And that’s where the magic of A Short Hike lies. Hawk Peak Park is small, but it’s packed with personality. Every path you take seems to lead to something, either a new character, a hidden treasure chest, or a shortcut you didn’t notice before. The island is full of little details that reward curiosity. The verticali...

Just pretty boring. Also includes a character with they/them pronouns, so instant negative review.

Quick Description: -A Short Hike is one of the sweetest games ever made. It's adorable, heartwarming, and so endearing. This is a purely positive experience as you make new friends, explore a quaint little island, and go on an adventure that will bring you back to your childhood. It's no surprise that this game has glowing reviews. It is extremely short. I got to the top of the mountain in just under 60 minutes and had completed most of the side quests in under 90 minutes, but that's my only real complaint. I just wish there was more to discover! Consensus: -Excellent Game (Tier 2 and makes up 25% of my reviews). This game is a must play for cozy explorer's looking for their next adventure. This game oozes cuteness and is a pleasure to experience. This is the perfect choice for a Sunday afternoon to brighten your day!

Strong contender for the most wholesome game ever made. It's just a nice lovely experience that isn't too long. There's fun little adventures and challenges, lil bit of exploration, really pleasant movement, emotionally resonating, the music is worth mentioning as well. It's like a lost cozy Nintendo game that was never released.

Charming little open-world game, densely packed with lots to do but doesn't outstay its welcome. Writing is funny but does lean in to the whole "casually ironic milennial" vibe quite a lot, so it could possibly not be your thing - though the dialogue that plays through when you do finally climb the mountain is genuinely heartwarming and, without wishing to spoil, puts the protagonist's whole deal in a new light. The art style is very pretty and nicely stylised, the soundtrack only plays sporadically but when it does it usually has a lot of impact. The gameplay is chill and low stress while also bringing a sense of playfulness and whimsy to events. The parkour races add an element of challenge, though I've only found a couple of those so far. Fun times!
