this game looks cute but it's fricken horrible. The experience grind bs. the fact that all moves arent unlocked at the start. The stat system. It's anti consumer time wasting. CANNOT REBIND BUTTONS

User Reviews
This game is pretty but the gameplay is quite average. The feedback when you attack is almost non existent, it feels you hit nothing. There's a lot of jankiness in the controls: there's no buffer, juggles are possible but they need surgical precision, you'll keep doing things you don't want like pcking up items, grabbing enemies, etc... Enemies variety is absolutely abismal in this game, there's 12 differents enemies for the whole game (not including bosses). They have different colors of the same enemy but unlike many Beat Em Up here they share the exact same patterns. You'll fight the same enemies over and over in this game without much cohesion on why there's wrestlers, students, cops, etc... enemy IA is also poor, every enemies act quite the same. you can't stay around a grounded enemy or it will hit you for free (dumb decision). Boss design is also horrible in this game with absurd invulnerability, absurd patterns and they are overall boring to fight. The RPG part is half bak...
I bought the sequel when it launched but never played the original. Got it free in on a different platform and played it with my sister, ported my save to steam after buying it here on sale. This one is shorter than the sequel and with shorter combos, but it still has fun characters and interactions. I honestly love these types of co-op beat them ups and hope someday soon they release a third game.
Great game, Amazing art, funny story, and has that classic Wayforward humor (If a Shantae fan is reading this). Combat can be finicky at times but overall it's pretty fun, but I heard they fixed that in the sequel.
amazingly fun beat em up game. I thoroughly enjoyed cooking up combos with characters and most bosses (apart from noxie) were fun to fight against.
left right left right left right, HIT YA W THE PUNK TACTICS :3
game has combos for days
